hoosierhawghunter Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Well guys fishing here in Indiana has been pretty slow recently due to water temperature. But after my BPS spending spree of over $1100 I had to test my new gear. I bought a 7'6" mh micro magic pro a 7' m micro magic pro a 7' spinning micro magic pro. And I bou a smoke 100 in 7.3:1 for my worms and jigs. A smoke 150 in 5.3:1 for cranking. And a daiwa Procyon for my spinning reel. And more tackle than you can shake a stick at. I fished for around 9 hours today. Water was clear with a temp in the low 40s. I decided I wou tie on a jerk bait a jig and a shaky head. I only caught 1 fish today on a shaky head in about 10ft of water. Scales weighed him in at 3lb 4 oz. he was on rock. I really have to say I am impressed with my new rods and reels. The smoke 150 and duckett rod will flat out chunk a bait. I've never casted as far as I have with it using 12lb mono. The smoke 100 and 7'6" setup is very smooth and sensitive. And the spinning setup is like no other. I tried a whole lot of power baits but I real only got attention with the shaky head. A zoom finesse work in green pumpkin with a chartuese tail. Hopefully fishing will pick up so I can really put these rods to the test Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted February 9, 2015 Super User Posted February 9, 2015 Always good to get a winter bass, 3lbs4oz is way better than anything I have caught recently! Quote
hoosierhawghunter Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 He didn't seem like a winter bass either lol. Hit pretty good and he put up a fight. But he was very cold Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted February 9, 2015 Super User Posted February 9, 2015 He didn't seem like a winter bass either lol. Hit pretty good and he put up a fight. But he was very cold I caught some (4 in an hour) today dragging a t-rigged 5" roboworm with a very light weight. May be worth a trying in your area if you caught one on a shakeyhead. Water was low 40s here as well. I was in a river so it wasn't cheating like when I go to ponds where I know the fish by name . The fish I caught fought like wet socks, even on a light action spinning rod with 6lb test. Quote
hoosierhawghunter Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 I just blew 1100 bucks at bass pro and forgot an essential item. Drop shot weights lol 1 Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted February 9, 2015 Super User Posted February 9, 2015 I just blew 1100 bucks at bass pro and forgot an essential item. Drop shot weights lol That's "Rule #1", forgetting something gives you a built in excuse to go back. I've been using that one for years....lol. Love shopping for more stuff. Hootie 2 Quote
