Robertqq Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Hello, Trying to decide on a new 8 foot Spinning rod for mainly Pond fishing. Small Largemouth (2 lb. max; most smaller) and Crappie. Pro Angler rods were suggested to me. Frankly, have never heard about this outfit. Are there rods a "decent" quality ? Reputable outfit, etc. ? Anything that sets them apart from the others ? Would appreciate any thoughts or opinions. And, anyone specifically using their 8 Foot Rod: "9 stainless steel eyelets 17 inch handle Two piece rod Hybrid Rod use Baitcast or Spinning Reel Weighs only 4.2 ounces 4X Backbone" Can this rod be considered a Light (L), one step up from an UL ? Interesting that they say it can be used as a Casting, or as a Spinning rod. Don't think I've ever seen any rod advertised that way. What have they done differently to enable this ? Thanks, Bob Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted February 8, 2015 Super User Posted February 8, 2015 Never heard of them, so can't comment on that but the idea of a combinatino casting and spinning would make me run. The differences between those two are rather large, trying to do both probably means it does neither well. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted February 8, 2015 Super User Posted February 8, 2015 You would do better over at crappies *, pro angler is a brand associated with crappie fishing, most guys here are more or less bass fisherman and there may be some, but not many who have knowledge of the brand. I have heard of them but it is only because I heard the name on a crappie fishing video. I'm sorry I can help but if that is what kind of action and rod you're looking for then check out B&M or anything Wally Marshall, that is all good crappie and panfish stuff. 1 Quote
