ColdSVT Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Its been awhile since loomis had a rod below 200$ I paid like 160 for my old blue GL2s back in 2003 at bps Looks to be a decent stick...hopefully better than the current gl2. Loomis needs this ti be a good rod since they dont have anything at all at the under 200 price point Quote
bass1980 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 It can't get any worse than their $200 GL2 right? Their GL2 must not be doing well to introduce a line that will compete with it. Quote

It cant be easy to get someone into your brand for 200$ starting Croix, powell, fenwick, shimano, diawa and the rest all have good sticks i the 100-200 range. And we all know how awesome those companies rods are once we get inti the 200 range Problem witb loomis right now is the rods dont impress until you get to teh glx. My croix ltb and 13 *** are just as good as the glx for way less money 2 Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted February 8, 2015 Super User Posted February 8, 2015 Company's in a court of law say their sorry with money, fishing company's say their sorry by introducing the curado I and the E6X rod! Sounds really good to me, as well... 3 Quote

ColdSVT Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Not really understanding your statement regarding my statement? Is the GL2 going away? No the gl2 isnt going away. This will ne a chance for the gl2 to earn its price point I think the E6x is gonna put a ton of pressure on loomis to get the gl2 and imx into being worth thier price. ( not that they are bad at all) but they coukd be so much more for what they cost Quote

Sounds really good to me, as well... That might make for one awesome rig for under 400 bucks...should be able to do it for 350ish Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 8, 2015 Super User Posted February 8, 2015 This is an exciting event. I can't wait to get my hands on one and try it out for myself. I'm also looking forward to reviews by our members. Woo-Hoo! Quote
ColdSVT Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Im thinkin i may have to be a guinea pig for one if i can score it under msrp Quote
bass1980 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 The only reason the GL2 may not go away is because the line has been around for so long. Otherwise it'll be like the Tatula $150 and Lexa $140. With the Lexa just being ordinary and the Tatula being one of the best bang for the buck I predicted the demise of the Lexa. I had the GL2 worn n jig rod and couldn't stand it. I would think sales and reviews reflect this and Gloomis took note as to why they built a line at about the same price point. That's my theory lol. Cgrinder Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I would have really liked to see a 781 or 841 CBR. However if they beat the Tatula and *** in sensitivity, I could see owning a few. I like lime green. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted February 8, 2015 Super User Posted February 8, 2015 I love the G. Loomis rods I own but for whatever reason I have my doubts about this offering. Quote

I like lime green. Im curious to see how the e6x stacks against the muse black from 13 Both will be in the 175-190 price range The *** is d**n hard to beat for 120...it fishes welk above its price point, so does the *** for that matter Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 10, 2015 Super User Posted February 10, 2015 These two rods cover most of what you need as far as baitcasters are concerned: E6X 853C JWR-- The do it all, medium-heavy casting rod designed to fish medium-sized soft plastics, soft-plastic jerkbaits, 1/4 to 1/2-ounce jigs and even big topwaters. The extra length (7'1") increases tip-speed, which in turn, extends your casting range, helps you recover line quicker and is a big help with hooksets. A great alternative for fishing 4-5" hollow belly swimbaits., and also just a great all around casting rod. E6X 843C CBR-- A 7’ one-piece rod designed to throw small to medium-sized crankbaits. It’s a great choice for square bills and will handle big bass, yet it's light enough to fish all day long with minimal fatigue, providing maximum accuracy and control. E6X technology allow us to make it soft enough for the bass to engulf the bait with plenty of reserve power to bring that fish-of-a-lifetime to your boat! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 10, 2015 Global Moderator Posted February 10, 2015 Looking forward to getting to feel some of these. I know their top of the line are just that, top of the line, but well out of my and the average angler's price range. Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted February 10, 2015 Super User Posted February 10, 2015 I love the G. Loomis rods I own but for whatever reason I have my doubts about this offering. I think that may be, because we have gotten used to the idea, that for a Loomis to be a good rod, it has to cost $400 to $500. Maybe this will change all that. I for one, sure hope so. Hootie 1 Quote

adam32 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I doubt they will be as good as the new imx series, which were a big disappointment for me anyway. I'm not getting my hopes up. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 10, 2015 Super User Posted February 10, 2015 We will see...The commitment is HUGE! 1 Quote
curtis9 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I'm pretty excited to check out these rods. All of the reviews from folks that were able to test them say they outperform their price. 1 Quote
Mr Swim Jig Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I am anxious to see these rods as well. It seems like the $100-$200 price range for rods is becoming very highly competitive. I will definitely be giving these new Loomis rods a shot... I also see the rods are manufactured in the USA and come with the Loomis life time warranty, very nice... Quote
LittleBob Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I'm really hoping that these will hit a store somewhere near me when they are released, I'd really like to try one. I've wanted to try a Loomis for a while but their current rods in that price range don't seem to have very good reviews. Quote
C_Stout Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Looking forward to the reviews on these, if good, might just have to pick one up. Quote
