Dean Smith passed away at 83 years old. No matter which team you follow and cheer for its a sad day.

 

May he rest in peace.

Yes he was quite a man as well as a coach..

I use to hate watching his clock killing 4 corner offense though...

Yes, he was a true gentleman but a very competitive college basketball coach.

 

He lead the ACC into the basketball forefront with other schools and conferences trying to emulate him and his results.

 

It is always sad to see such a smart and vibrant individual fall to that horrible disease.

 

At least he is at peace and the world is a better place because of Dean Smith.

Sad day for sure.  No coach will fill his shoes.  He coached that golden era that had me absolutely hooked on the heels.
