Super User Angry John Posted February 8, 2015 Super User Posted February 8, 2015 Who has the best rates for shipping rods. I get a lot of rods ups and FedEx. Is one better and cheaper. Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I might be wrong, but fed ex always seems more expensive than ups. I would call and ask. You can also look it up online if my memory serves me correct. Quote
Trent Wilson Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I just ordered a few rods from megabass and they included next day shipping no extra cost. Then again, for what I paid, I think Vaseline was involved. 3 Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted February 8, 2015 Super User Posted February 8, 2015 I've used all 3 companies to ship rods and none are hands down better than any of the others. There is an online calculator but it's not 100% accurate. I've had stuff turn out to be $20 more. Just expect to pay $20-45 depending on length, destination, and insured value. Quote
fisherrw Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Why is it so expensive??? I'm not gonna pay 40 bucks for shipping on a 100 dollar rod.... Quote
zachb34 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Usps gives good deals if you print your label online. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted February 9, 2015 Super User Posted February 9, 2015 Why is it so expensive??? I'm not gonna pay 40 bucks for shipping on a 100 dollar rod.... The price depends on the variables. How far How long How much I just shipped 3 rods in 1 tube from Md to Ca. The tube was 8ft long so there's a charge for that. The distance was across the U.S. so it was more verse shipping it a few states away. Ups includes $100 insurance. If you want more then you have to pay extra for it. $25-30 is what the average price usually runs me. Quote
Super User Angry John Posted February 9, 2015 Author Super User Posted February 9, 2015 36.50 from wa to NY. It was a little more than i expected, but the deal is shipping more than one at the same time. I was shipping just one rod to be rebuilt so i was stuck only sending one. Quote
fishinphilly Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 well if i ever order rods i order them from tackle warehouse for $10 shipping other than that i don't really order rods because i prefer holding a rod in my hand before purchasing it Quote
Trent Wilson Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Well, Idk about everyone else, but I know my rod and have no issue buying one out of the blue knowing it's the same identical item I already own. Quote
dwong Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Definitely go on USPS and print out a shipping label. Much cheaper than anywhere I've looked including the post office haha Quote
Brian-S Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Or if you have any friends or family with a UPS business account, They will get much cheaper rates (sometimes 30%+ off) to ship it. Something to keep in mind and to help you if you're shipping a rod. -Brian 1 Quote
