OntarioFishingGuy Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 How's that Ardito? I have been considering one myself. 1 Quote
urban.angler Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 How's that Ardito? I have been considering one myself. I love mine. Surprising amount of backbone for a 3 piece rod. And the travel case it comes with is pretty cool, too. 2 Quote
I.rar Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 How's that Ardito? I have been considering one myself. X2 I really haven't seen many post their experience with it on the interwebs. Fisherman's warehouse has them for like 90 with free shipping. Almost bought one a few times but decided not to for some reason. 1 Quote

I might have to pick up a backup. Quote
urban.angler Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 As much as I like them, though, it is worth mentioning that I don't think any of them are ideal for cranking. The tip is too stiff, even on the medium action model. (In my opinion). Quote
I.rar Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 No problem. Are they accurate with their ratings and how does the rod bend for a 3 piece? Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted February 8, 2015 Super User Posted February 8, 2015 You can't put a Shimano on a Daiwa. My god man! You just broke the rules haha Nice looking setups. 1 Quote

I.rar Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Lol, I didn't even think about that. I'm surprised the two didn't spontaneously combust upon contact with each other. 1 Quote

fisherrw Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 No offense but it's kind of a sin to put a 100 dollar abu rod on a what 650 dollar shimano reel.... 1 Quote

Are they accurate with their ratings and how does the rod bend for a 3 piece? I have a 7' MH, only about the first 1/3 of the rod bends. If you're really interested in them, I would recommend getting a feel for them 1st hand @ your local bass pro shops or similar establishment. Quote

urban.angler Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 No offense but it's kind of a sin to put a 100 dollar abu rod on a what 650 dollar shimano reel.... No offense taken LOL, a veritas is all I could afford, after buying my antares & metanium. If all goes according to plan, I will have both of them on G Loomis rods by the end of this season. I didn't pay anywhere near $650 for the antares though. Try $200 less than that. Hint: Ebay. JDM's. The yen is doing terrible compared to the dollar right now. Quote
urban.angler Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 My Shimano rods totally reject my Daiwa Lexas, Is your lexa is noisy as mine was? My local tackle shop got a lot of returns on those things lol Quote
Cgrinder Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 No offense but it's kind of a sin to put a 100 dollar abu rod on a what 650 dollar shimano reel.... It's not a DC. It's still a sin though. Now I want to go put my CQ101 on a Skeet Reese rod. 1 Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 9, 2015 Super User Posted February 9, 2015 Why is it a sin if it does the job? Good friend down here fishes nothing but Van Staal, most of his rods are custom but one isn't. One of his favorite set ups is a van Staal on a $29.95 Shimano soujorn sjs70H. I know how good this rod is, I have the identical one. 1 Quote
urban.angler Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 Why is it a sin if it does the job? I think it's akin to the idea that putting cheap gas in an expensive sports car is a "sin," the difference of course, is: putting cheap gas in a expensive sports car may actually affect the way the engine runs over time. Pairing a cheap rod with an expensive reel isn't going to damage the reel, lol. I suppose there's DOGMA present in any hobby. Some people feel that certain reels just should not be paired with certain rods. I just do what works for me & my wallet & chuckle when people criticize. At the end of the day, I'm having fun, and catching fish. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted February 9, 2015 Super User Posted February 9, 2015 There's a lot of things that can be fixed, but you can't fix _blank_ I had a $600 reel on a $150 rod. It was my favorite combo too. 1 Quote
I.rar Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 It's not a DC. It's still a sin though. Now I want to go put my CQ101 on a Skeet Reese rod. I have a stradic ci4 coming tomorrow. Maybe I'll mount that on my ugly stick lite for poos and giggles. That is, if they don't melt when the reel seat is tightened. Honestly, do what you like and enjoy the combo. I'll look around my area to see if I can find an ardito locally. They do seem pretty sweet especially for the price. Quote
