Today I went to my local-ish bass pro shops (concord nc) with intentions of buying several of the pro qualifier reels that were on sale this week.

I was disappointed to learn that on day 2 of the sale they were already sold out of all right hand variations. They had a few left handed models left but that did me no good. When I asked about a rain check on them I was initially told they could do one but when it came down to actually getting one I was told they had just received an email from their home office and they were not doing any more rain checks on the PQs. The employee I spoke with said they were supposed to have more on the way later in the week but couldn't give me any solid information on how many or when exactly they would arrive.

Up until now I've always been pleased with their service but after driving nearly 2 hours to buy a specific item that I know is a consistent top seller at BPS's spring sale and they were sold out on day 2 of a 10 day sale, I'm starting to wonder if I should take my business elsewhere.

If anybody has any ideas or suggestions let me know

Call and ask to speak with the store manager and tell him what happened and ask that you get special dispensation and can have the reel as advertised.

I would expect BPS to come through for you.

Now about that Lews....good suggestion. I support it.

Nothing against Johnny Morris reels but you will do much better with a Lews.

My Johnny Morris Pro Qualifier destroyed itself during a tournament and when I returned it to the BPS store the guys in the fishing department told me to go with a Shimano as they are much superior to a Pro Qualifier.  And I did!

X2

It would have been best to do that when you were there originally, but after the fact may work as well.  No need to say how unhappy you are or that you may take your business elsewhere, that is understood already by most managers (& few people respond well to threats).  Keep it positive, tell them what you want and let the manager figure out a solution for you.  If you let him/her get a little creative, I'm sure you will be satisfied when all is done.

When dealing with most floor people at most retail outlets, no matter how nice they are, remember that they are most interested in not getting in trouble with their boss.  Making you happy is number two behind that.  Managers have different goals, usually involving beating up the floor people... :)

Yeah if you have a beef with a company you need to take it up with them, not complain about it on here.
