Pulling New Wire In 2009 Ranger 520 Bass Boat!!!! Having Hard Time Pulling Wire ????

trying to pull new wire from console to cranking battery !! wire fish go 3/4 way back stops will not come out in cranking battery area ????

You are probably stuck on a small flange of fiberglass mounding inside the tunnel area. Did you tape/attach the new wire to the end of the old wire and are pulling it through? I have found if you have someone pull some tension on the old wire backwards as you pull it through may help. If not, just keep pulling backwards and forwards; it usually pops through.

I picked up an 8' pull rod at lowes that breaks down into 2' sections.....makes it a lot easier to fish thru.

If it's a hang, electrical tape can be your best friend. 

 

If it is hanging on a snag, wrap electrical tape to make a taper at the snag, or step on the wire you are trying to pull through.  That should allow it to deflect over and past any flange or high spot on the hull.

 

Make the taper three to four inches long and you should be able to pull it through easily.

Put dawn dish washing liquid on the wire you are trying to pull it helps slide thru.

Are you trying to run it through the conduit or through the hull itself? If it's inside the conduit it can get hung on other wires, but you should still be able to get it through. It might be easier to run it from the back storage up to the console. If I'm not mistaken, there should be a small access cover in the storage behind the drivers seat to help access that area.

No matter how you do it, put in a pull string for next time!  I did and now its very simple.  Good luck.

If all else fails! Just stick a shotgun in there with a load a buck shot, it'll make a large enough hole to get anything you wat through there.

Actually, if possible try to get some light in there and use a mirror to see what's blocking you. They may have a conduiit or opening that you may have to go through, and you could just be hitting a brace with your fish tape and need a better angle to get by it.

I hope he's trying to run the wires through the conduit. I just pulled to new wires in my 27 year old Ranger while converting my 12 volt trolling motor to 24 volts. My fish tape slid all the way from front to back without a bump right through the existing conduit.

That side is more open since it usually only has the TM wires running through it where the one on the console side has everything that's going to the console.

Sometimes everything fails.  I just put an lss 2 ducer in my boat.  I hooked the old one to my fish tape when I pulled it out.  I hooked the new one to my fish tape and did the old tape job.  It would not come back through no matter how many times we worked it back and forth.  I had to take my hole saw and make a new "inspection port" put the fish tape through it and bring the wire above what ever was causing the block.
