Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 7, 2015 Global Moderator Posted February 7, 2015 What size base am I going to need for my new Garmins? https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/on-the-water/fishfindergpscombos/echomap-93sv/prod169429.html I'm guessing I'll need the 11" plate but not positive if I can get away with a smaller one. Bad thing is I'm having a hard time finding a Ram mount with a 9" base (approximately the same width as the mount of the depthfinder), they're pretty much 6.5" or 11". Huge difference in price so if I could get away with a 6.5" would be great but I didn't spend the money on these units to beat them up in an undersized mount. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted February 7, 2015 Super User Posted February 7, 2015 Heavy duty 11" with the 2 1/4 ball Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 7, 2015 Author Global Moderator Posted February 7, 2015 Heavy duty 11" with the 2 1/4 ball That was the other thing I was just reading, that the 1.5" ball might now be big enough to hold it in place. What about the bent arm ones? I think I'm going to need one for my console unit because there's not really anywhere to mount it on the top of the console like I had in my old boat, but there's a small area on the side where I think I could mount one and let it swing out over the side of the boat. Super User slonezp Posted February 7, 2015 Super User Posted February 7, 2015 I have no experience with the swing arm mounts. Cisco makes a real nice mount for a similar price as the Ram http://www.ciscomounts.com/mounts.html or http://www.ciscofishingsystemsltd.com/shop/sure-lok-electronics-mount-5225 But it doesn't sound like it would work for you. Can you post a pic of the area you plan on installing it? Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted February 7, 2015 Super User Posted February 7, 2015 I'd definitely mount it in the dash for the one at the console. As far as the mount I have 1.5" mounts and they work fine on my 998 but not on the 1199. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted February 7, 2015 Super User Posted February 7, 2015 Check out the Balzout mount also. It looks to be as adjustable as the RAM, but no rubber balls that can loose grip in rough water. Quote

Super User Hi Salenity Posted February 7, 2015 Super User Posted February 7, 2015 surely Garmin makes a dash mount. If my dash was like yours I'd definitely dash mount it. Quote

Super User Hi Salenity Posted February 8, 2015 Super User Posted February 8, 2015 No putting it on and taking it off everytime you get to the lake and no hitting it on tree limbs and would be easier to see and drive. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted February 8, 2015 Super User Posted February 8, 2015 Yes remove the one that it came with and cut a bigger hole You don't think it would fit? I don't know how big your units are are they about the size of a 999? Or is it bigger? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 8, 2015 Author Global Moderator Posted February 8, 2015 It's 11.3" and the one in the dash now is really small. Quote
BassnChris Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I went with the ram mounts with 2.25".....they hold my lowrance hds 7 touch and my hds 9 touch........I don't feel like they are overkill.......and those units don't move regardless of the wave pudding the boat gets. Quote
