Brock Grigsby67 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Hey guys I just wanted to know yalls opinion on a good crankbait rod and reel that won't break the bank. I'm in college so I'm on a budget. I don't wanna spend more than $125 Quote
zell_pop1 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Gander mountains 7'11" crankbait rod regularly goes on sale for $49, pro qualifier $50 at bps this week. 1 Quote
Sonik Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Abu Garcia sells a $100 combo that is an Orra Winch and 7' moderate action rod. For budgets, it's great to get more bang for your buck, so you may look at a MH power rod that is moderate-fast action around 7' and a 6.X:1 reel. That would be very versitile And fish about everything. Quote
robster80 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 powell diesel and a bps PQ or h20 mettle Quote
Smokinal Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Gander mountains 7'11" crankbait rod regularly goes on sale for $49, pro qualifier $50 at bps this week. If you can score this setup, that's your girl Quote
Brock Grigsby67 Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 I was thinking about getting a 7' medium vengeance and putting a black max on it. Quote
BassCats Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 The black max is a good reel for a season but will wear you out if you use it for cranking. It has no power at all. Quote
robster80 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 id stay away from black max. theres reels for not much more that are alot better Quote
