BassinNCstyle Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Just bought me a set up for worm/jigs. Thinking of using fluorocarbon line, what should be the max lb? Also, letting me know what kind you use would be helpful? Thanks! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 7, 2015 Global Moderator Posted February 7, 2015 I use up to 20 but will go to 25 if it's really nasty cover. I use Sunline Super mostly. 15 is about my favorite size for worms. Quote
Super User Angry John Posted February 7, 2015 Super User Posted February 7, 2015 Worms 12 is more than good. 20 is good on a heavy jig Quote
Mr Swim Jig Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 12 to 15lbs Seaguar InvizX or AbrazX... Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted February 7, 2015 Super User Posted February 7, 2015 I have 20 lb Tatsu on my heavy jig rod. It handles fine. I like 12-16 for general worm and light jig fishing. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted February 7, 2015 Super User Posted February 7, 2015 12lb Invizx is my favorite but I will go up to 17lb if it is called for. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted February 7, 2015 Super User Posted February 7, 2015 Depends on cover. I have up to #30 if needed. Typical is 15 thou, up & down in test, depending.. Quote
Fisher-O-men Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Best Bass guy on Youtube uses 17lb viscious. Bamabass, awesome videos! Quote
BassinNCstyle Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 I have been using the Palomar knot for everything, will that be ok for fluorocarbon? Quote
BassinNCstyle Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 Does the yo zuri hydrid line stretch more than fluorocarbon? Quote
The Next KVD Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Depends on the cover. My go to is 10lb P-line 100% Fluorocarbon for open water to moderate weed cover. 15lb for 10" worms and wood. Quote
The Next KVD Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Does the yo zuri hydrid line stretch more than fluorocarbon? Depends on the brand. Some brands and even certain models within that brand are stretchier than others. A good example is Sunline Shooter that is near 0 stretch yet the more popular Sunline Sniper has more. Seaugar Invisx is really stretchy wheras the Tatsu has less. Quote
ChrisWi Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I use up to 20 but will go to 25 if it's really nasty cover. I use Sunline Super mostly. 15 is about my favorite size for worms. not to be off topic but how do you like the Super? The reviews are iffy. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted February 9, 2015 Super User Posted February 9, 2015 12-15#. Handling suffers the higher up you go. I have yet to be broken off by a bass on 12# line that wasnt my fault. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 9, 2015 Global Moderator Posted February 9, 2015 not to be off topic but how do you like the Super? The reviews are iffy. Wouldn't fish it if I didn't like it. Although I've recently began experimenting with Sunline Defier Armilo and have been thoroughly impressed thus far. Quite a bit more expensive, but wow is it nice to fish with. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted February 9, 2015 Super User Posted February 9, 2015 not to be off topic but how do you like the Super? The reviews are iffy. Super is my favorite budget friendly fluoro, it's a good line. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 9, 2015 Super User Posted February 9, 2015 It depends on the rod rating. I've used any thing from 6# to 30# for plastic worms. I like Tatsu as s general fluoro. If that's too pricey, Invisx is a close second. Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted February 9, 2015 Super User Posted February 9, 2015 12 to 15lbs Seaguar InvizX or AbrazX... ... yup ... me 2. Quote
JeziHogg Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 15lb Tatsu... its my favorite line. I use it on the majority of my bc rigs besides jerkbait, topwater. Quote
ChrisWi Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Super is my favorite budget friendly fluoro, it's a good line. there's a lot of discussion between Super and Red Label. Gonna try super this year and see for myself. Quote
