ItsTig Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I just fun fish from the bank, but I am curious if there are any helpful phone/tablet apps that anyone might use. I downloaded an app called Fish Cacher on my phone that looks/sounds nice from details, but curious if anyone has experience with it? From my understanding all I will need to do is upload images and it will retrieve all time, location & weather data and log everything. I know I could do this the old fashion way and write it down, but if this works it sounds faster/easier and I can just catch, photo, release instead of catch, photo, release, log. Another nice thing is that the app is free or $1.99 for the "Pro" version. Curious of anyone's personal experience with any apps, not just the one I mentioned. Was the app actually helpful, useful, user friendly, or just a waste of time & effort. I know this is not exactly a boat electronic thread, so I hope this is still ok here and I didn't ask in the wrong forum. Thanks guys! Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted February 6, 2015 Super User Posted February 6, 2015 The only one I use is the Sonarphone App. I have the iPad and Android versions.Just need to purchase the wireless transducer to go with it.There is a castable version---T-PODThen you can see what is "out there".After the testing phase is complete, you may be able to map your pond with it using Navionics Sonar Charts. The top one is Android and the bottom one is Apple 1 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted February 6, 2015 Super User Posted February 6, 2015 I've only got two aps that I downloaded for fishing: "Fishing Knots" and "Tides Near Me" Quote

It would be great to have all that information stuck on the bank. Did a quick price check, and it's surprisingly affordable. Do they update it frequently to keep it running smoothly with the latest phone updates? I will definitely look into it some more, thank you for the great recommendation. Quote

I have only used it once on the water, don't know much about it yet. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted March 12, 2015 Super User Posted March 12, 2015 Got myself a new phone. Was going to download the apps I mentioned above that I had before: Tides Near Me and Fishing Knots But wanted to resurrect this post and see if there's any other/better recommendations Quote
junyer357 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I have "Time2fish" on my android phone. its a simple lunar/weather times app but its handy to have. I may have to look into the sonar one though... Quote
jcoholich Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 To second what wayne said the T Pod vexilar wifi app is the only one I have used also but it works great off either the castable version and also the t Box version. And if you wanted to turn your phone or tablet into a gps fish finder you can pair it with the navionics app and get best of both worlds. Quote

The Sonar Charts Live function works well to create contour maps where there are none, or adjust the Sonar Charts map layer. This is a sonar log track I used to correct some contour lines. There is another one without the track displayed below it. Quote
Robeng Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Navionics app for phone-though my phone is kind of small for old eyes. Have to keep zooming in and out. Much better using Navionics Premium on Lowrance. Probably would look much better on a tablet. Quote
