I like to tie my own jigs during the winter, tackle warehouse doesn't have much selection for pre painted jig heads, but I'm looking for a good medium wire jig head for casting, I was looking at sieberts jigs and I'm wondering how heavy of a wire is on the arky head and brush jig, along with hook size (if possible) thanks.

No being a idiot on this forum is forbidden, just like going and asking if there is a online sale for a store when you could just go and look.

Ayye Roadwarrior, come lock this please. Because I'm such an idiot.

upgrade to the siebert heads with owner hooks, even if you don't use braid or beef stick rods.  that cutting point sets easier and better than even light wire needle point hooks.  the penetration you get with those is sick.  just sayin'

owner makes one heck of a hook, I just don't want a real heavy wire hook because when Im casting a jig I usually bomb it and dont use a heavy action rod. I'll give it a try. And thanks for a actual reply instead of harrasing me.

the mustad hooks Mike uses could be considered medium wire.  he uses 2 types of owner hooks.  one is a 2x strong (the 5304 deep throat hook with the square bends).  this is an interesting hook b/c the diameter of the wire is actually fairly small on it but it is very strong.  the other is a 3x strong (the 5317 flippin' hook).  both of these will absolutely impale a fish on a decent hookset and dig a ditch in a fish with a good hookset.  i believe he uses 4/0 sizes on his smaller weight heads and 5/0's on his bigger weight heads.

Those Owners Paul is talking about are awesome hooks and much thinner wire than any other full size flipping jig and they're so sharp that it takes nothing to bury them. I actually reeled into a fish with one that I didn't know was there and it stuck like I'd swung on it.

ChrisWI: Just tap the Siebert Outdoors link on the right of the page. There is a message prompt. Ask him all of your questions and give him the chance to answer them. I promise you won't be sorry. In you OP and title you did use Siebert and I think that confused some people when they were really trying to help you. Then you became angry because we didn't know that you might be looking at other suppliers too. Give Siebert a try, I'm sure he knows a lot more about what you are looking for than most of us on BR.

The only hooks I really bomb are football heads which generally come with lighter wire hooks. Pretty much every other head is more close range target fishing so I don't really need a lighter wire, but I would recommend checking out that owner hook or perhaps making your own.

Hey Chris. I use a mustad 32786 ultra point hook. Its a strong hook and I would put it as a heavy to med heavy hook.

thank you. Ill be making an order once I get some money!

I'll probably go with the owner hook, just because they're so dang sharp.
