I've been watching this guy, Dave Mercer, on YouTube.  I've never heard of him as I really don't follow sports (would rather be out participating.)

Was just looking for a new fishing show, and came across him.

I like him.  His techniques are what I've been refining to this past year or so, too, coming from an older-style presentation background.  Less is more in a lot of things.

Interesting guy.  Very personable.  Good show; I recommend it.

He's the MC of the Elite Series.  I used to not be able to stand him but he's grown on me.  His show, Facts of Fishing, is pretty good.  I don't know what his background is in fishing.  He's Canadian and I assume he was a tournament fisherman before going in front of the camera, he has personal sponsors.

Agree, with you guys.

Once you get past the accent and actually listen to what he says he is entertaining.

Like the Lindners. They talk funny, too.

I enjoy watching Mercer. He has good info and the best part of his show is at the end when they actually show how many casts he made and the number of fish he caught. Most pro shows just show the big boys catching one fish after another with no idea of how many casts it took to get them. Also like his crazy ass laugh!

Curious if Mercer had an illness or gastro bypass surgery ? ... He has lost a ton of weight and has what appears to be excess skin on his face when viewing the new shows versus shows of a few years ago ... Great dude - hope he is ok ?

He's pretty funny. I appreciate the contribution he's made to the sport. The only thing I don't care for is his laugh. SUPER obnoxious.

I like his show but he's been copying Zona a bit too much as of late. Keep it original, Dave.

He put in a ton of work and lost a ton of weight. As far as I know he did it the old fashion way.

Mercer's show has gotten better over the past few years.  You can definitely see how Zona's show has influenced changes in the way it is "cut".  As for originality ... I think he is pretty original in his content.  In recent years he has done a show fishing out of a paddle board, float tube, on the bank and of course his boat.  Can't say that about Zona.

Enjoy both of them a ton.  Can you imagine if BOTH were on a show together regularly ... LOL

Don't know if he was ever sick. I do recall him trying to lose weight for health reasons.

I think I will kick him in the nuts when I see him at the classic-

As for the weight -Dave knows he had to cut down for health reasons -like we all do- He is the new Jared for Subway-  He eats healthier and he is doing a lot more exercise -does a lot of running now- he has kids and they are the love of his life so he wants to stick around a while.

He has found his niche in the industry.. My little boy dosent take any crap from him

If I remember correctly he used to have a couple of different ringtones you could download of him laughing. But I really like his show.

I'm a fan of Mercer.  Guy just seems like he has a lot of fun making the show.  I watch a lot of him and Zona.  They are both northern guys and do a lot of smallmouth shows.

One of them posted some pics of them fishing together for an upcoming show.  It was either on instagram or one of their Facebook pages, but I can't remember whose show it was for.

I actually learned something from him of his "facts of fishing" show. It was a swim bait show when he was sponsored by Rapala and he was using a Storm Kicking stick and he mentioned about popping the rod and feeding it slack to make it turn sideways. Well before that show I had a Magic swimmer, and a Kickin' Stick that I never caught squat on and after the show it has become a valuable part of my spring arsenal.

Watched one of his seminars last year. Pretty informative. Talked to him a bit after and he gave me a Subway gift card.
