Catch 22 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I spend $125 for three different states and I duck another $50 because of senior exemptions. I may add another $50 if I decide to go for one more state. Ramp fees are likely add another $100 or more. I like the states that give an actual full year from date of purchase. How much do you spend ,or do you want to know. C22 Quote
Chris186 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I spend $58.50 for two states. What gets me is my state was $8.50 a year for at least 25 years, then one year they jumped it up to $19 out of nowhere. It's not the price that gets me, it's the fact that all that money gets poured into saltwater boat ramps and trout. They do absolutely nothing for freshwater ramps or bass management of any kind. 2 Quote
tbone1993 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I think I spent around $200 last year maybe more. Ramps fees probably only around $100 I saved a ton of money finding free ramps and some states are pretty good about free access ramps. Others charge up the wahzoo Quote
skeeter1980 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I turned 65 last July,in Delaware 65 or older,no license is needed.I still would buy a license,if the state would make improvements on the ramps. But like the post above,it's all about the salt water fishermen, and the out of staters. Quote
Catch 22 Posted February 6, 2015 Author Posted February 6, 2015 Skeeter,I happen to know a little about De money distribution. They are mandated by law to spend on average 21 to 22% of license income dollars on non tidal projects. Overall I give them failing marks on what they do with the money. The percentage is determined by how many people say yes, they fish fresh water. It would be wise not to speak of that. C22 Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted February 6, 2015 Super User Posted February 6, 2015 I usually spend 110 every three years. Don't go to other states or provinces. Quote
sprint61 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Pretty sure I pay $20 for ky, the lake I fosh don't charfe no fees so that's about it. Quote
joefish Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Turned 65 last year an got local state lifetime hunt/fish for $45. Also buy neighboring state for $35 and Ontario for around $40. Ramp fees are around $50 for the areas I use. Quote
FloridaFishinFool Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Wow, some of you pay some mighty high fishing fees. My Florida freshwater license for the whole year is $17.00 and if I want to fish salt water it is another $17.00 on top of that. Here in Florida I use mostly public boat ramps paid for by our taxes so there are no ramp fees at most locations, but my local Winter Park chain of lakes charges me $14.00 a year for ramp fees. A one day use is $6.00, so the annual pass is the only way to go. The nice thing about this chain of lakes having a boat ramp fee is that it keeps out a lot of people who simply do not want to pay it. If it were an open access public ramp there could be twice as many boats or more using it. So the ramp fee is a deterrent keeping a lot of heavy traffic out of there. Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted February 6, 2015 Super User Posted February 6, 2015 I don't have to worry about that until I turn 15. 1 Quote
plumworm Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Last year: Wisconsin senior annual, $7.00, Alabama non resident annual I think was $55.00, Michigan non resident annual was $75.00. Launch fee totals probably more than the license fees. I fish a lot of National Forest lakes and the daily fee is $5.00, Local (Green Bay) annual is $40.00. County fees in the area I fish on the Mississippi River is $40.00 annual ( there are a lot of free boat ramps on the Mississippi but the distances make it worthwhile to pull your boat rather than run 10-15 miles) State Park boat launch fee's are $25.00 annual in Wi. Toss in an a few $3-$5 fees on other county parks and you have a bit invested. At least the bait chimp didn't get that money. Quote
Super User geo g Posted February 6, 2015 Super User Posted February 6, 2015 Once your 65 in Florida no more license fee. I can't believe how much some states charge for license and ramp fees. Sure good to live and play in Florida. Quote
Penguino Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I don't have to worry about that until I turn 15. Isn't it 16? I'm in high school too and from what I heard, in NJ you don't need a license until you r 16 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted February 6, 2015 Super User Posted February 6, 2015 If I recall correctly, I believe it was $36 for a combo fresh/saltwater license here in Virginia for a year license. Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 6, 2015 Super User Posted February 6, 2015 Fresh & Salt $5 until 65 then $0, got 2 more years Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 6, 2015 Super User Posted February 6, 2015 Fresh & Salt $5 until 65 then $0, got 2 more years That's pretty cheap ! Being a senior resident of Florida I'm no longer required to have a license. Fishing salt from shore or pier a licensed is not required for non seniors but you must have one for a private boat. Many places in South Florida there is both a pier charge as well as a parking fee, luckily in Boynton the jetties are free with no parking charge, better yet they are open 24/7. I have access not only to the jettie but beach and ICW, only problem is the fishing stinks the last few years. Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 6, 2015 Super User Posted February 6, 2015 Zero! I have a Virginia salt and freshwater "lifetime" fishing license. Purchased one each for my grandson and granddaughter when they were born. Wife has her "lifetime" fishing license, too. 2 Quote
bassinbrady03 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 None My parents bought me a Lifetime Hunting & Fishing for NC and SC Quote
Catch 22 Posted February 6, 2015 Author Posted February 6, 2015 Amazingly New York reduced the non res lic form $73 down to $50 +a full year from date of purchase. More states should do the full year thing. In times past I declined to buy with only a few months before expiration in Dec. Md has an eye for eye policy for non res. What ever the buyers home state charges non res is what is paid. There is a minimum of $30.50 no matter. Lots of states have a one time charge for a senior pass for parks and ramps. The feds have a Golden Age pass for age 62+. At $10 its a bargain. C22 Quote
nascar2428 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 $26, covers all species in Michigan. Quote
Djf3864 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 $100 to $200 depending on the states I get, but with the amount of fishing I have been doing lately it will be closer to $200 this year. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted February 6, 2015 Super User Posted February 6, 2015 ~ Annual Michigan Resident Multi-species (warm & cold water) ~ Annual Non-Resident Pennsylvania Multi-species (including Lake Erie trout & salmon) And if I'm lucky, a couple of these a year . . . . . ~ Weekly Non-Resident Sinaloa, Mexico Mutant Bass Permit The monetary value of each is meaningless when compared to the actual value added to my life. Super User Catch and Grease Posted February 6, 2015 Super User Posted February 6, 2015 Maybe like around 50$??? I got a Georiga freshwater license and a 3 day fresh water Florida license and a 3 day florida saltwater license Quote
wytstang Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Here in SC it's $10 a year for fresh, same for salt. In Fl non res I pay like $60 for fresh & salt. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted February 6, 2015 Super User Posted February 6, 2015 My home state of Pennsylvania offers 1, 3, and 5 year licenses. I hate having to go buy my license every spring, so I buy the 3 year plan, which I believe is $64. Like others have stated, my home state dumps a majority of their money into trout. The kicker is they charge $5 for a trout stamp for every season too. I don't trout fish at all, but it sure would be nice to see more money spent on other species of fish. By the time I add on my West Virginia, New York, and Ontario licenses, those all come to about another $125 a year. So I guess I spend about $150 a year on licenses. Quote
