atcoha Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Finally going to be able to take my youngest girl and the jon boat out this Saturday... We are ready! Been too long. The bass here in NW Fla and LA (lower alabama for all you non southerners ) are still deep from the reports I have been hearing. Planning on drop shotting, I just started drop shot technique last year and it worked great. I was using small flukes and senkos. I have a bunch of finesse and trick worms I will probably use, maybe pick up some of those dream shots this week. What do you all have the best luck with, this time of year/conditions: water still below 50 and bass still deep? Need some recommendations, so I can go buy some more stuff I don't need. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted February 5, 2015 Super User Posted February 5, 2015 Man, I have been fishing this rig for years and have literally hundreds of baits I bought to drop shot with. Some worked well, some didn't, and some were quite average. At the end of the day I feel these are my tops: 1. Jackall cross tail shad 2. Jackall I shad 3. Roboworm FX sculpin 4, 4 inch finesse Roboworm 5. Yamamoto shad shaped worm 6. Keitech 4 inch swing impact Select colors for your waters and you should be set. Quote

corn-on-the-rob Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 roboworm fx sculpin (purple, watermelon, white) powerbait 3'' and 4'' minnows (shad, chartreuse) any trick worm of any size (any color) finesse tube (green pumpkin, watermelon) these cover 99% of my drop shot baits\colors but don't be afraid to get creative! BasshunterJGH Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 whoops, forgot about roboworms, bought a bunch, they will be on the hook saturday for sure! I'd stick to those roboworms. As you can see, they're very popular and for good reason. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted February 6, 2015 Super User Posted February 6, 2015 If it's a soft plastic bait, and I own it, I drop shot it. 1 Quote
rmcguirk Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 If it's a soft plastic bait, and I own it, I drop shot it. This. But my favorite would be a Lunker City Ribster. Quote
bassinyea Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 roboworm 4 and 6 inch. They work good cause they are really soft and flexible and give lots of action with little rod movement. Quote
GrifGod Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Zoom Z-Drop worm. 4 inch bait that has some really slick colors! Quote
BigSkyBasser Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I'd try roboworms to find em but it's fun to experiment with different baits on droptshot. Especially baits that generally don't make the spotlight with this particular technique such as creature and lizard profiles. I have caught an insane amount of largemouth fishing baits you'd normally see T Rigged but instead I fished with a VMC swivel wide-gap hook and a sweet beaver rigged weedless. It gives the bait a completely different action and holds it at a spot in the water column that seems to get me more strikes than a Texas rig would. As far as lizards go I will always default straight to the Zman Lizardz, as these things are super buoyant and incredibly tough (7-8 fish average per bait.) Plus they have the best action I have ever seen in a soft plastic bait. Quote
