get_bit Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Hi all! I've been fishing all of my life thanks to my dad but just got into bass fishing about two years ago. I joined a local club and started fishing some tournaments, which has been awesome! I'm here to learn all I can about bass fishing. Quote

Super User Sam Posted February 9, 2015 Super User Posted February 9, 2015 Who is "we"? Club? Friends? Tournaments? That;s where we put in. I go either to the left and up the creek towards the marina or to the right and head out into the river flats to the right or fish along the creek towards the river. Not fishing the Potomac this year. Our two tournaments last year were not productive and we had to use Willow for one as Hope Springs was taken over by the Wounded Warriors. Willow is very shallow with lots of grass but the people are much friendlier and it is less expensive than the $20 launch fee you have to pay at Hope Springs. Get_Bit, the "we" means clubs and individuals using the ramp. If anyone wants to have a fun Saturday or Sunday go to Hope Springs, park on the left by the tree as you drive into the upper parking area and take a lawn chair with you, something to eat and drink, and set up to watch the people launch and trailer their boats. You will see some funny and sad things going on plus so many young ladies with so little on. Keep me posted on your Potomac fishing adventures. The once proud lady has been over fished too much and Maryland, who is in charge of the river, will not suspend tournaments for two or three months to give the bass time to recuperate. But that's the way it is. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted February 9, 2015 Super User Posted February 9, 2015 Keep me posted on your Potomac fishing adventures. The once proud lady has been over fished too much and Maryland, who is in charge of the river, will not suspend tournaments for two or three months to give the bass time to recuperate. That's sad. And surprising. I've had very good luck from banks and piers in Gunston Cove and always assumed that it was just the tip of a nearby iceberg. Just yesterday I was looking over last year's tournament results for Potomac Teams and was shocked at how light the winners were and how many teams don't even limit some days. I've had afternoons on the pier at Belvoir that would have been in the money most weeks. I just assumed that the rest of the river would be remarkably better. Quote
