fisherrw Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 any one used the new spro? fav colors? im thinking of getting a few. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted February 4, 2015 Super User Posted February 4, 2015 I went ahead and bought every color. According to my buddy Phil, I won't be able to fish for 6 more weeks. 1 Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted February 4, 2015 Super User Posted February 4, 2015 I got one. Ice is in though. Has a real subtle knock to it. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 5, 2015 Global Moderator Posted February 5, 2015 I bought a few and fished them a little bit. They're a nice bait, but mine have a tight wiggle and no "hunting" action to speak of. Supposed to be a wart knock off, reminds me more of a 6A or 7A Bomber. Still a good bait, but not what I was hoping for. Quote

I guess I'm not in a hurry to order any of these - it sounds like it would perform similar to my go-to Norman Deep Little Ns... Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 6, 2015 Global Moderator Posted February 6, 2015 did you catch any? Nope but I didn't catch any on any other crank that day either so take that for what it's worth. Quote
bassinyea Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 i guess spro had to come up with something since mike mcllelland won table rock on a wiggle wart. Just looking at them online they do not seem to have the same type of body or bill and my guess would be that they will not have the same action. Seems they have already been tested by bluebasser and he confirmed this. In this case I am not interested in buying any. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted February 6, 2015 Super User Posted February 6, 2015 Mike said they've been in development for a couple of years and that he wasn't going for a wiggle wart action. He wanted something with similar profile that deflects off rocks like a champ Quote
fisherrw Posted February 6, 2015 Author Posted February 6, 2015 I hope it's a decent lure. Spro little johns have always produced for me. Quote
TorqueConverter Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Crankin Raps are wart style baits that come in shallow, medium and deep versions and are said to be hunting baits by a number of people. Worth a look. Quote

He wanted something with similar profile that deflects off rocks like a champ It says right on Spro's website " wide wobbling hunting action". Sounds like that's exactly what they were going for. Regardless, in the case of the ones I have anyways, they are not wide wobbling, nor do they "hunt". I hope it's a decent lure. Spro little johns have always produced for me. I think it will be a good bait, as long as you aren't hoping for a bait similar to a wiggle wart. Quote
Trent Wilson Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 They can say hunting action all they want. They don't hunt nearly as well as Rapala's scatter rap. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted February 8, 2015 Super User Posted February 8, 2015 I'm not going by what the website or package says, just his interview with the bait. I never found the newer wiggle warts to hunt much either but the two have very similar profiles. Quote
