MO_LMB Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 That could eat this gizzard shad. Caught this while trout fishing in a lake that is stocked with trout in the winter. I wasn't able to get it certified by the Missouri Dept of Conservation until the next day, but it weighed in at 1.92 lbs on a certified scale. Assuming the submission is approved, it will be a new Missouri line and pole record for Gizzard Shad. 7 Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted February 3, 2015 Super User Posted February 3, 2015 New PB. Congrats on the record. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 3, 2015 Super User Posted February 3, 2015 Those fish are exactly why stripers have been introduced throughout much of the country. A 30 lb striper WILL eat that shad! Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted February 3, 2015 Super User Posted February 3, 2015 30+ pound flathead will too and ask for dessert! Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted February 4, 2015 Super User Posted February 4, 2015 That thing could eat some of the bass I catch. Good job! Quote
Super User scaleface Posted February 4, 2015 Super User Posted February 4, 2015 That is why there are giant catfish in Missouri . ...and congrats on a new record. I should be seeing your name in the Conservationist soon. I think I caught a record White Sucker out of the Salt river. I had no idea and released it. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 4, 2015 Global Moderator Posted February 4, 2015 30+ pound flathead will too and ask for dessert! Little 10 pound flathead would suck that shad down no problem. I've had them eat bluegills the size of my hand and shad have to be much easier to get down I'd think. I snag some monster shad each winter at the power plant lakes. Any idea how long it was? I had one that was 16 or 17 inches a few years ago on a jigging spoon. Quote

Super User senile1 Posted February 4, 2015 Super User Posted February 4, 2015 I believe I saw your post about this on the Ozark Anglers forum. That's pretty cool. Quote
BassObsessed Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Congrats on that monster shad. The 10lber I caught today could probably choke it down. Quote

Super User Catch and Grease Posted February 5, 2015 Super User Posted February 5, 2015 Cool! I hope your submission is approved, good luck! Quote
