Ozark_Basser Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Their website rates them as fast. The Edge line rates them as fast. Kistler rates them as Modfast. For those who own one, what and are the actions like on these blanks? How soft is the tip? Sell me on these blanks. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 They have a lot of different models, which one are you looking at? Is this to build yourself? There are lots of good blanks to choose from. Don't be too eager to be sold on one brand. Give an idea about what the rod will be for and the budget and it's easier to make good recommendations. Check your PM. If this is in regard to a MH casting blank that we discussed, the fast action is fast and crisp. The ones I've worked with had a nice loading tip but not what I would describe as "soft". 2 Quote
Batson Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Hi CHubby, Thank you for asking and DVT is correct. We are though the exclusive partner of NFC. Remember these are Gary Loomis's GEN2 of his designs, actions, builds, processing, etc.. He released blanks because his previous venture stop selling blanks and only made completed rods. Now being not fast enough, etc.. Please tell us the model and we can show you on the board. Most of his information is accurate, but the problem is the industry. Someone's fast could be different that another persons. Also with NFC's "private label" rods, you would have to get the exact model to compare. Doing a blanketed" this private label rod says this, but the company that makes the rod blank claims this is hard to tell unless you compare apples to apples. 1 Quote

Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I would recommend to anyone starting out to choose some conservative components for the first few builds. Even if you love it at first as you go through the learning curve one day you'll look back and think to yourself, wow what was I doing? lol 2 Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted February 3, 2015 Super User Posted February 3, 2015 I agree. I'm almost embarrassed to look at some of my early creations. I gave away my first casting rod and spinning rod. Still have my first fly rod, but it hasn't seen the outside of the rod tube in about 7 years. 1 Quote

What are some other blanks that are good in comparison but are cheaper? Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted February 3, 2015 Super User Posted February 3, 2015 You should be able to find some older generation Batson blanks on clearance now that they're introducing the new lines. St Croix SCII are priced nice. Bingham Enterprises Bing SHX blanks are good for the money. Dont have much experience with Mudhole MHX, but many seem to like them. Mudhole also has their CRB series which are inexpensive. 2 Quote

What are some other blanks that are good in comparison but are cheaper? Try our RX6 lineup. We also have discontinued some models and you should be able to call a retailer of ours or even DVT to pick some of these up. Ozark_Basser Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 Here you go.. We can't do this all the time, but We wanted for you to see personally. Check out the pics. Definitely fast. Don't see how kistler could rate them as mod fast unless they get something different. 1 Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted February 4, 2015 Super User Posted February 4, 2015 Hovanec you mean RainShadow lines?? Yea, the old RX7 and RX8 lines. I think the RX7s are some of the best blanks for the money. My favorites are the ISB822.5 and ISB802.75 1 Quote
Batson Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Definitely fast. Don't see how kistler could rate them as mod fast unless they get something different. Ya.. I don't know unfortunately. But you can definitely see from the pics. Now remember all of these are not only GEN2 of Gary Loomis but everyone rates their powers and actions differently. They are not universal! We gave a rod for review on another forum of our RainShadow Revelation series if it were to be built as a custom rod. We used a RainShadow Spinning blank built as a casting blank and the review stated it was in line with other.. Now one thing to note about NFC. These blanks should mimic Gary's previous venture rod company. Just with refreshed GEN2 of everything. So if those blanks performed, these should be right inline with what your looking for. Yea, the old RX7 and RX8 lines. I think the RX7s are some of the best blanks for the money. My favorites are the ISB822.5 and ISB802.75 The RX7 and the RX8 are great. We still have some of stock still left of our discontinued list. I even think there are some RX8+'s as well!! Quote
