seawitch Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Can anybody offer any insight into Abu Garcia rods? The higher end ones not the junk wallmart ones. Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted February 3, 2015 Super User Posted February 3, 2015 I may be wrong but i think they are all the same except for componenets used.ive felt a vengance and vendetta alli seen diff was the guides and reelseats Quote
Blues19 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I have 2 Vendettas and 2 Veritas rods. I love the Veritas, havent fished the vendettas enough to comment too much. The Veritas are very light, but very sensitive and very stiff. A lot of people had them break, I havent had an issue with that yet. Served me 2 seasons so far and have been work horses. They are very very stiff. 2 Quote
Dylcook91 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I love em..have some vendetta, veritas, and will be ordering a veracity this week. But I use them cause I love abu reels so I just stay with house brand. I think they are just as good as any other rods in the respective price ranges. I find them light and sensitive. It comes down to your personal preference. Me personally I try to remind myself when ordering rods that I'm not doing this professionally, I have no need for $300+ rods and the bass on the other end of the line sure doesn't care if it's cheap or expensive. So to answer, yes they are great and you can definitely get by on them. Are there better brands out there, sure...but the question is do you need them. 2 Quote
Brent Bartman Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I have a veritas and a veracity, and the veracity is a heck of a rod the veritas is great but it is heavy for there action. My MH veritas has more back bone than some of my heavy flipping rods Quote
C_Stout Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I have to say the villian is my favorite out of all the abu rods, love the 7'1 mh use it for jigs and t-rigs. Quote
rawjuice Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I have tried various Abu products, I have a Villain 7'1" MH, amazing rod, reels are great too! Their rods are somewhat on the stiffer side but great sensitivity. The new Veritas 2.0 has a redesigned blank that is suppose to be alot stronger, I am interested in trying one someday. Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 3, 2015 Super User Posted February 3, 2015 I have two Verdicts and they have performed very well. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted February 3, 2015 Super User Posted February 3, 2015 I use vengeance's, vendetta's, and veritas's. Excellent rods for the money. Like any rod, regardless of mfg, they'll break, or have issues if you beat on them (like I do) but ABU's customer service is top notch. Quote
0119 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Me personally I try to remind myself when ordering rods that I'm not doing this professionally, I have no need for $300+ rods and the bass on the other end of the line sure doesn't care if it's cheap or expensive. So true. I wish I had come to this realization when I was younger. Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted February 3, 2015 Super User Posted February 3, 2015 I have a Vengeance and for 50 bucks, it's a great rod. Compared to most 50 dollar rods (such as a Tourney Special), it's very light in your hand and has a great reel seat and trigger. I like it a lot. Quote
Brent Bartman Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Yeah sure my needs and wants are different but the feel of a $600+ combo is awesome. I don't disagree . the bass don't know what you paid for your rod. But the goal is to feel him before he feels you and besides I buy my rods used in mint condition for pretty cheap.I just pick up 7 rods in mint condition that included NRX,GLX,IMX, micro magic, veritas, shimano crucial, abu vendetta for 900 bucks . Some of the rods still had plastic on them. Quote
corn-on-the-rob Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I bought two veracity casting rods (the $149.99 model but I got them cheap) and only got to use them for about 15 minutes before winter started. But by feel they are incredibly light and sensitive. I bought a 7' 0'' medium moderate action for cranking and a 6' 6'' medium heavy moderate-fast action for chatter-baits/big spinner-baits. Going to buy the 6' 9'' medium heavy fast action as my jig rod. Super excited to use them this year. Quote
dag3220 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I own two veritas and a veracity. They are stiffer than there rating on the rod but are good rods. My opinion is stick with micro guides and you won't be disappointed. Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted February 3, 2015 Super User Posted February 3, 2015 Don't buy it, Abu rods don't work. In all seriousness, I own a Veritas. Solid stick, I like it because it is a versatile rod. Little on the stiff side. Quote
Fisher-O-men Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 There was a Vigilante rod that showed up in Walmarts last year, here in San Diego. Did anyone else happen to see it. Said 30 ton Graphite on it. Quote
SpinnerbaitSlinger Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Have vengeance, had vendetta, and have veritas. Huge fan of Abu, for rods and reels. Rods are on the stiff side but once you get used to them they are awesome. Have only ventured away from abu on one rod and two reels Quote
