Topwaterspook Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 I got a bug up my butt about teaching myself how to bake my own bread. I got up at 3:30 this morning and just took it out of the oven at 7am. The grandchildren are all coming to sled ride today. Hopefully this wonderful aroma sticks around until they get here and they enjoy the treat. It brings back memories of my grandmother's house. 2 Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted February 1, 2015 Super User Posted February 1, 2015 My grandma used to bake me fresh bread when ever I came over for the weekend. Nothing better now if I only had the metabolism to burn off the bread like I used to. 1 Quote

Super User Sam Posted February 1, 2015 Super User Posted February 1, 2015 Top, secret when selling your house: bake some bread before you leave and the prospects show up. Smear some butter on the bread followed by strawberry jelly and enjoy! Lots of butter. Lots and lots of butter. Add some coffee and sit down and enjoy life. Almost as good as catching that 8-pounder. Super User F14A-B Posted February 1, 2015 Super User Posted February 1, 2015 My house has the great aroma of Chile cooking... Yummy... But Hot bread & butter, sounds pretty amazing too! Quote
plumworm Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Simple beer bread recipe: 3 cups SELF RISING FLOUR, 1 and 1/2 cups sugar, 1 can room temp beer. Mix, will be about like pancakes batter. Pour into small greased foil bread pan and bake at 350* for 1 hr.15 min. Wipe top with butter when you pull it. Makes absolutely great toast. Also you can add: cheese, minced J.A.P.S. or any other peppers, raisins or other dried fruit. Really fun to play around with. Different beers will affect the taste too. Enjoy. Filter won't let me spell the peppers. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 2, 2015 Global Moderator Posted February 2, 2015 Homemade bread is something everyone should get to try once. Wonder if there's a candle out there that smells like fresh baked bread?? Quote
Topwaterspook Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 Two loaves of bread and half a pound of butter doesn't last long with a gang of grandchildren. Quote
