Bass Pro's E-Z Lure Retriever?

Now that I call Table Rock lake my home I will need one with all the trees and rock.I was just wanted to know if there is a better one out there?

I bought one of these and I spent a lot of time untangling it... Never really liked it.

I would think that the trick to that would put the line on a old baitcaster and just hit the botton and use a old rod handle.

this is what i did. i cut a broken rod off where the reel mounts. works perfectly.

I have one of the hound dog lure retrievers. I tied it on a marker buoy.Its paid for itself many times over. Im going to put it on a broken rod and reel , the marker buoy is kind of awkward .

 

The Hound dog doesnt have the chain like the easy retriever. I think that chain would make it better .

I've used a telescoping lure retriever for several years now. You'll be throwing expensive jerkbaits for the next few months on Table Rock, you could easily recover the cost of one in a days worth of fishing. Plus you can use them to get other people's baits out of trees while you're at it! I got a 110 Magnum, 100 pointer, and 100DD pointer out of trees all the same day last time I was at Table Rock. $60 worth of baits I didn't have to pay for

How long will long will it extend to? The bass Pro one that I was talking about has 30 ft. of rope that I would replace with 80 braid.

You need to carry 2.  A hound dog type, that you drop down on some kind of line and an extendable pole type.   Different snags & different depths one will work batter than the other.   The hound dog type sucks when it comes to getting baits out of dock carpeting or trees.

 

I would recommend using a stout nylon cord rather than 80 or 100 lb braid for the hound dog type retriever.  If the retriever gets stuck (and it will) you can cut your hands on stout braided line.  It is harder to cut your hands with nylon cord.   If the retriever/bait is really stuck, your last resort is to wrap the line around the boat cleat and back off with your trolling motor.

You can get them longer but mine is 18'. I don't fish much deeper than that and if I am it's usually with a jig or shakyhead that I'm not worried about losing. If you're replacing that rope you better go with something like paracord, 80lb braid is going to leave you disappointed I'm thinking.

I'm with bluebasser86 on this one. Plus it's usually cheaper. Just remember to trim the ends clean and melt them so it won't fray. I replaced the pull cord for my trolling motor with it and it works fine.
