Listening To Music

I know I'm not the only one with a radio in my boat. At times fishing alone I really enjoy the quietness of everything but at times I enjoy low music. I've never noticed the bite shut down while it's on. Anybody ever noticed if it affect catching?

I have, I never fish with the radio on. Only use it when moving or sitting at the dock.

I dont know if it affects fishing or not. Ive always heard that music or talking doesnt but the bass do hear it. All I know   is when Im fishing by myself , being extra stealthy ,  I catch more fish than when I'm with someone and gabbing away and making twice the noise .

I have tried out both. Never noticed a difference even with the radio on very loud. Ish and Skeet usually have custom audio systems in their boats and have seen Ish slamming them with the radio on.

I have considered installing an mp3 player in the boat- one that is removable and not permanently installed, but what I really like to do when out in the boat fishing alone is to use ear plugs and a small mp3 player cranked up. I love it! And it won't bother the fish with ear plugs.

I would think all fish northern & southern would get "hooked" on Bill Monroe, Hank Williams Sr, Statler Bros etc. I use my cell phone paired to a small waterproof bluetooth speaker. The cell phone stays in a Pelican case nice & safe.

No, no,no, no, no!!! It's .38 Special & Marshall Tucker Band.. I'm being silly of course... Lived in and around Jax. Myself for a while.. Loved southern rock. That's what I've done for years, just take a portable player when fishing, ...out with family or friends, that's different..oh, you forgot, the Rossington-Collins band!

I remember watching an episode of Bill Dance where he was declaring "water reflects 99% of sound waves... so there's no need to just fish without talking. BUT what does transmit very well in water are the vibrations from jumping around on the deck and knocking stuff around."

 

 

So with that --- I'll talk some BS with my partner, but I really only listen to music when I'm night fishing... and that's through a small bluetooth speaker at the bow of my boat.

I haven't listened to music while I've been fishing, nor have I had the urge to. That's part of why I like fishing, getting out and getting away and just enjoying the outdoors for what they are. If I'm fishing a tourney by myself I might considering putting ear buds in to help get myself jacked, even though if I'm in the boat waiting for the tourney to start I'm already jacked. For those that listen to music using ear buds or a small speaker, thank you for being courteous and letting me enjoy what I want while you enjoy what you want. The people who want the whole lake to listen to whatever they're blaring just annoy me.

In the water sound is very loud, also objects are magnified by about 25%... As least from the human perspective. I use to dive with this gal in Puerto Rico, she had big eyes, underwater her eyes were huge! Wonder if bass see objects in a magnified state, or as presented? Or, smaller.. Hmm..

One would have to ask, can a fish tell the difference between low volume music dispersed through the carpeted deck & entire haul of a boat & the vibration of the guy racing by with his 50 hp merc wide open?

 

I know nothing about fluid dynamics & I'm not a marine biologist but I would guess there are plenty of other vibration that a fish has to deal with & would have no way of knowing that the guy trying to hook him is playing music, just my 2 cents...
