slimshad Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 This had nothing to do with the Elites. Why suspend them there? That is their job. This was an Open. So if I was to get in a fight at a club tourny at some little boat ramp in BFE, I should get suspended from my real job? I think BASS did the right thing. They suspended them from Opens and gave the co anglers their money back. Done and done. Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted February 3, 2015 Super User Posted February 3, 2015 Have there been any pictures of the boat damage done? You read one article and it says it had to go to the repair shop, read another and it says it had to have the wrap repaired, and others say no damage was done at all. Would like to see pictures of actual damage, as I think this will let the air out of the argument for Ish. My opinion (and it's just that) is that is was a huge over-reaction on Monroe's part.... and the punishment was light... 1 Quote

Well, Hmm, so you endorse fighting, boarding a professional anglers boat out of anger, temporary insanity, or plainly, I'm going to get even mentality? These guys are pro's? Really? Or, is it ok if it happens at the "Opens" or, at a back country ramp, I mean as long as it's back country it's ok, right? B.A.S.S. could have sent a much more far reaching series of penalties to dissuade this behavior from future events in Tournament Events across the board. Seems A race car guy was in a incident ( accident ) on a dirt track, that outcome could have affected his real job, which was NASCAR. I'm all heartbroken about the fishing clowns maybe loosing their real jobs... Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted February 3, 2015 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted February 3, 2015 I think the point is that the suspension/fines occurred within the boundaries of the tournament series they were fishing, which is the correct call. Let's move on folks. Quote

And dude the race car thing? He killed someone! What are you talking about? Skippy, being from Pekin I would have thought you were alil rougher than this. None of them Salem fellas ever called you a name or messed with your girl? Don't tell me your a "give them all a trophy" guy too? You are not a PITA member are you? Come on Skippy! Two guys had a pushing match and nobody was hurt, let it go boss. Lets go to Borden Reservoir and have a fish off... Settle this thang lol Quote
Tim Kelly Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Did you watch "Ike Live" the other day? He has Poche and Ish on the phone live. Poche explained his side of things and Ish didn't want to talk about it. I think that says something about the rights and wrongs and who feels guiltiest/most foolish. Quote
redux Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I assume he's been instructed to keep his mouth shut until after the legal stuff works itself out. Quote
RSM789 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Have there been any pictures of the boat damage done?... No, because the boat sank, it went down faster than the Titanic. Ish had to quickly inflate a dingy, throw his gear in it & abandon ship. He went over to Poches boat to calmly ask what happened when Keith stuck a jerkbait into the dingy, deflating it. As Poche danced around his deck yelling "I'm the Cajun Tom Brady", Ish put on some water wings & swam towards Keiths boat. As he climbed aboard, he saw a grape soda sitting on the deck. He & Keith wrestled for control of that soda for about 3 hours, until they both fell into the water exhausted. 1 Quote

bass1980 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Seeing picture of how congested and full the lock dam was I don't know why Poche wasn't careful. I would think once your in a certain position another boater cannot pass you up in the order to get in the lock so I'm not sure why he was so in a hurry and didn't troll at a speed that he can control. I'm sure when BASS did the investigation they talked to the Lock Master on what he saw. For Poche to be punished also means he was being careless when he caused the accident and he could have avoided the incident one more time if he hadn't gotten angry back at Ish when he was getting yelled at. Ish is just annoying to me peroid. Quote
5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 So will they both be able to fish in the 2015 Classic? I get confused with all of the divisions like Elite, FLW and that stuff. ;-) Quote

My opinion (and it's just that) is that is was a huge over-reaction on Monroe's part.... and the punishment was light... I'm in that lock on a regular basis. 5 boats at a time on a normal Sat afternoon and it's no problem. Jam 12 to 15 in there at sunrise on tourny day and you are going to lose some paint. That's just the way it is. You have to deal with tricky currents, bad boat operators, and a lock master who just finished his "liquid" breakfast. Quote
VABassin'14 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 There is absolutely no excuse for a competitor to leave his boat and board another competitors boat under any circumstances. In my opinion this penalty is way too soft on Monroe, and appropriate for Poche. Poche is being penalized for an accident, Monroe is being penalized for assault, and they essentially received the exact same sanctions. How is that fair? Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted February 21, 2015 Super User Posted February 21, 2015 I don't even care....I say put some gloves on 'em and throw 'em in the ring and let them work it out. None of us was there and just speculating like this is pointless. I know this though....people can be provoked, and if they are in the right to do so it is natural to want to defend your honor or personal character. You just can't do that in a public event. I was never a Monroe fan before, not a Poche fan either. One is a knob and apparently the other is a super nancy. Quote
RSM789 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 ...the other is a super nancy. When I read that, I am imagining the most flamboyantly gay superhero the world has ever seen. "OK boys, gird your loins, Super Nancy is here to save the day!! Aren't my boots just fabulous!!" Quote
