moguy1973 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 There's the new BPS Revolution Low Profile baitcaster shown on sale in the BPS Spring Classic ads. 7 bearings, dual braking, aluminum frame. Hmmm...sounds a lot like the specs the PQ currently has. And with the PQ being practically given away during the Classic, makes you wonder if they are clearing out the PQ's to make room for this one to take over where the PQ left off. Too bad there isn't more details about the Revolution on BPS's website right now. Quote
bbodkin Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I have felt them in bass pro and I have to say they feel awesome. The reel is on the large side but its super light. The grips on it are sticky like they feel like an indoor basketball. But it feels really nice and smooth. I like the feel better than the pq and its a lot lighter. I wouldn't say its a new gen pq becuase it feels and looks a lot different but it's possibly going to be replacing them. Not sure because the pq's are there best selling reel. But I like it. Definitely worth looking into. Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted January 30, 2015 Super User Posted January 30, 2015 Interesting, I just took a look at the flyer for Ontario, Canada and we don't have that in our flyer. That reel looks pretty neat. Quote

The PQ was part of a family of BPS reels using a common Doyo platform with the PQ being the last man standing in the BPS reel line up on that platform. By the looks of things BPS is shifting away from Doyo and is now using the OEM behind the Quantum stuff judging by the new Extreme, Prolite and JM Carbonlite.. The New Prolite makes for a good PQ replacement with it's dual breaking, elongated handle and 10 BB but has vanished from the website and only exists as a display model in store, indicating a supplier issue. I bet they either kill the PQ and let the Prolite fill its shoes or badge one of these newer platform reels as a PQ. 1 Quote
kikstand454 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 ^ ^^^^ with the prolite suddenly dissapearing, I wouldn't be surprised if it was relaunched as the next Gen PQ. Quote
cbass12 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Anybody have a link or picture of this new reel? Can't seem to find anything online about it. Quote

The ProLite and Revolution are "Special Buys" which means they make them in limited quantities at a discounted price. Other "Special Buys" are the Midas Black Bass Reel, and the Nitro Tournament Z. It's a great reel at that price, but I don't know if they will actually go away from the PQ name. I think people sometimes trust names, and so I don't think they'll get rid of the reel. They may keep it in name only... But its their best seller, so they won't just get rid of it. Quote
cottny27 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Jakob, I got the Prolite from a couple yrs ago and beat the heck out of it. Put a carbonlite handle on it and semi supertune myself. Its a smooth caster now. I think I paid $59 for it. 1 Quote
moguy1973 Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 The Revolution is definitely not the replacement for the Pro Qualifier. It's a bigger reel and weighs about 2oz more than the PQ does and it only comes in two flavors, a 5.3:1 ratio and a 6.3:1 ratio. They finally have specs on their website. They say they are good for A-rigs, big swimbaits, and other situations where high capacity is needed. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Revolution-Low-Profile-Baitcast-Reel/product/1408230711552/ Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted February 8, 2015 Super User Posted February 8, 2015 Sweet, I might pick one up when they go on sale. I need a big cranker and/or a swimbait reel when I decide I'm going to start it. Quote

It's some sort of satin black big bait reel. If I was in the market for a big swimbait/musky $100 reel then I'd give it a look at. Quote
Penguino Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Yeah the Revolution isn't really a bass reel; the specs make it look like a possible striper or pike reel. Quote

PAGreg Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I played with one at bps on saturday and definitely do not like the size. It felt huge compared to your average low profile reel. Quote
