DHiland Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Ok guys I need some advice. I am getting back into tournaments and Will be fishing Kentucky Lake. I understand you must follow the state laws depending on where you're fishing. That being said what is the best A Rig in your opinion? I have read where some people are having problems with the wires breaking. I personally have never fished with one before so if there are some good technique advice feel free to offer it Thanks in advance. Quote

Lip 'em! Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 The flashmob jr. works well for me and aren't that expensive compared to other rigs that come with blades. If you want, change the quick snaps out for split rings. Takes a little more time if you have to change hooks but i trust split rings more than the snaps after having a couple good ones come off due to them coming undone and/or straightening out. Quote
HookdUP Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Have been trying to decide to try one or not ..... Maybe I will after all but I've been wanting the Picasso myself Quote
Matthew2000 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 If you decide to use one I recomend Shane's baits. They are the beast I have tried. Quote
Trent Wilson Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I second this question. Threw my old man's and it just seems way to heavy to throw all day. And I'm starting to shy away from them seeing as I outfished him using nothing more than a number 5 jointed shad rap in crawdad. Are they worth throwing cast after cast or should I just stick to what works? Quote
DTack Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Hog Farmer is a great one. I like the picasso as well, and for something different I like the Krazy 8 by Hi's Tackle Box. Quote
t4bama Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Fished a few different brands Yum is good I like Eco Pro but the one I've been fishing lately is Nichols Nick Rig 3 Umbrella Rig and its one of truest running A rigs I've fished, it comes with 2 4.5 willow leaf blades 3 wires for your swim baits I like that cause of the three hook rule in the FLW. DTack Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Which one of the Hog Farmers A rig do you fish? I really like the regular 5 wire one. I've been thinknig of getting the 5 wire with the blades on it and replacing them with dummy baits at the split ring... blades look great I just never get bit as well on them. Quote
HookdUP Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 What do you all recommend for jig head and swimbait combinations for water 12ft or less Quote
blongfishing Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Yep Shanes baits are awesome! He won a co angler down here on Murray at Forrest Wood Cup. Hes a great guy I have met him before and the baits are spectatcular. Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted January 29, 2015 Super User Posted January 29, 2015 Fish the Yums but they will break eventually. The Yellow Hornet A-rig with the blades is by far the most durable I've found. Fish that one and the Eco-Pro but the wires on the Eco-Pro will break after a dozen fish or so and re-straightening the wires. But has some of the best action. All of them I fish with blades and all 5 wire with 2 dummy heads. They seem to run better then the 3 wire rig. Read the rules closely as some will only let you fish 5 baits and 5 spinners total. You replace the spinners and put dummy baits on it could be outside of their rules (FLW Rules 5 baits and 5 blades, no more then 3 hooks or State Regs if less). Quote
t4bama Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 The Krazy 8 looks really good may need to try that one. The Nichols Nick Rig does really have 5 wires and yes you can put anything and everything on these things, read where someone on here puts Johnson spoons on his A rig heck I'd like to try that. Quote
Matthew2000 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 http://www.shanesbaits.com Here's a link they have interchangeable arms so if one does break you don't have to buy a whole new rig. Quote
bassinbrady03 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Shanes Baits with keitech swing fat impact Quote
travis23 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Another vote for Hog Farmers. Expensive, but worth it for a good one. I also like the Picasso's. Quote
t4bama Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Yeah Hog Farmers looks good too so many different models to choose from, which one do you mostly? Quote
hatrix Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I don't throw them much buch the flash mobs work and can be had easily. The Picasso ones are also good. I was super interested in the paycheck one when I first saw it but just never got one. It's arms are semi flexible and you can like pulse it and get more movement out of it. I think they are way more durable also. Quote
basshole8190 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Hog Farmer bait co. This and call it a day Quote
