Peter E. Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Hey Ya'll, I was wondering what material to make my metal lips out of fo my lures. Is there a type of metal that seems to do the best and what do you think I should use to cut it out with. With scout lips how do I get the correct bend? I have some Ideas, but they are just that. I wanted some input from ya'll on how you do it. Thanks, Peter Quote

guitarkid Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 steel good strength, but rusts unless coated. I.e. paint it. aluminum lightweight does not rust but bends easy. also oxidizes after a while. just trying to help. hope it does. Quote
BassDawg Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 My #1 choice would be .030 stainless. You should have no trouble cutting it with a decent pair of tin snips. A block of wood and a band saw is all you'll need to make a simple die set for bending. Good luck Quote
guitarkid Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 dang, forgot about stainless good point. Quote
