I use power pro slick braid and need to spool up some rods during the down time. Is there any braid you guys like better or favor over this?

I love Stren Sonic. I've fished a bunch of them and for durability, cost, colorfastness, managability, it performs much better than it costs. I just purchased a spool of Maxima I'm going to try out in Fl. in a few weeks, hopefully it will work well, I read good things. Brian.

I still like performance braid as the best bang for your buck. Smackdown is awesome but two and a half times the cost.

I've used power pro original and slick stayed with original. It ain't broke don't fix it :)

sufix 832

The only thing with 832 is that when it is new it is slightly stiff due to the coating but that goes away after a couple hours of use. The stiffness for the first little bit doesn't cause me issues but have heard of people dismissing 832 because they didn't break it in.

I have a ton of trouble seeing any of the green/camo/low-vis lines while on the water at times and line watching is crucial for me so I use the hi-vis yellow on everything.

Sufix 832 or Performance braid. Super Slick is great on spinning rods but I've had trouble with knot strength on casting gear.

Power Pro original. Is it the best? I don't know, nor do I care. Works for me, is cheap, and available everywhere.

As stated before, Sunline FX2 is amazing stuff.

FX 2 braid has to much stretch for me but I will say it does come off a reel beautifully during the cast. I've tried quite a few different braids over the years but I always come back to Power Pro. I'm currently using S8S on a few select rods, there are a few techniques that I prefer it over regular PP. I use more regular PP than anything else.

When you compare premium 8-strand polyethylene lines, the difference in my opinion is largely illusory.
There is no 'best' braid, just 'favorite' braids.

The only bad experience I've ever had with braided line was with PowerPro braid (multiple failures / 2 anglers)

I was offered a free spool by Shimano (who admitted to a bad batch), but declined and switched brands instead.

For my money, it's a virtual wash between Berkley Trilene braid, Sufix 832, Seaguar Smackdown & Sunline FX2.
If I were backed against the wall, I'd have to go with Berkley Trilene braid for overall manageability,

and Sunline FX2 for abrasion-resistance.

I became very fond of the Seaguar Smackdown braid last season.

I've always been power pro guy then I loved slick 8 ... But I'm switching to sunline for frogs and texas rigs and see how it goes

Power pro original, simple & effective and not terribly expensive. Tried 832 and I didn't feel as it lasted as long as the PP.
