Santana_moretto_fishing Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I have having the same issues with my zman chatterbaits that everyone else seems to have. what is another good brand to use? Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted January 28, 2015 Super User Posted January 28, 2015 Pm bluebasser86. You won't be disappointed. 5 Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Bluebasser makes some nice stuff. Also siebert outdoors fogy is an excellent choice for much cheaper than other brands. 1 Quote
Fish'N Impossible Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I am really partial to the *** Lures crazy Jig. Travels and looks diffrent than the standard bladed jig everyone else uses. https://nutechlures.com/index.php/ 1 Quote
JT Bagwell Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I am pretty lucky, before Phenix had to stop production (heard it was patent lawsuit from ZMan) of their vibrating jigs, I got about 100 of them because of deal with Yamamoto. If I remember right, these are the ones Brett Hite used before he had to switch to the chatterbaits. I know that doesn't really answer your question but Phenix did make some nice ones. 1 Quote

Alpha Male Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 What problems are zman chatterbaits supposed to have? I have 3 of them and fished them quite a bit last year and I didn't have any issues. Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 What problems are zman chatterbaits supposed to have? I have 3 of them and fished them quite a bit last year and I didn't have any issues. They have some poor hooks on the original. The other version has some better hooks I think. Quote
einscodek Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Ive never had a problem with zman chatterbaits hookin up.. I throw strike kings as well without a hitch but have no preference there Quote
Buzbait88 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 The KaRu vibrashock is by far my favorite. The only one I've tried where the blade actually hits the head of the bait so hard it chips the paint. Makes a noticeable sound and I think it actually helps the fish find the bait to give you better hook up ratios. I don't normally miss to many fish on them. Quote
corn-on-the-rob Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 my experience with zman's has been not good but over time they have upgraded their chatters with better hooks/skirts, but for the price I feel like you are paying a little extra for the "zman" name, and for the money or a little more I'd rather go with a different brand or homemade. I liked the SK rageblade, the whotech crazy jig, and I really liked pepper custom baits jig (Fred Roumbanis' design). For extreme cover/weeds you cant beat the crazy jig, the pepper customs jig is awesome for open water and rocky areas. 1 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted February 19, 2015 Super User Posted February 19, 2015 Is the SK Rage Blade just a fancy (read more expensive) scrounger? Has anyone done a comparison between the Rage Blade (or Naked Rage Blade) and a Scrounger in a tank? They seem to have the same wobble to me. I suppose that need to get them side by side in a fish tank one of these days. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 19, 2015 Global Moderator Posted February 19, 2015 The Rage blade has WAY more vibration than a scrounger. Quote
travis23 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 There is a new Zman custom chatter bait exclusive to TW that is out now. Has a keeper and mustard 4/0 hook. I've never used anything but Zman's. I'm sure there are better ones I just haven't had enough problems to change. Even with the originals you can make a keeper. Takes 2 minutes with thread and wire or whatever way you want to put one on. I would like to grab a couple Revenge ones. Man they look nice. Quote
