I just bought a KVD Cranking reel ,and have always used my dads Quantums. I currently have a Kinetic, And the Cranker. I'm looking on upgrading all my reels. I really like the old Tour Edition Pt but you can't find them. I like the braking system on the older reels, I don't need dual brakes most of the time. I also am not a fan of the newer Tour MG where u have to take off the side cover to adjust the brakes. Looking at the Exo, Smoke, and Energy. What's u guys opinion on what I should do?

Exo or smoke they are both fine reels though In my opinion they are overpriced some.

You ought to be able to find an older tour edition or energy cheaply on the bay. Either nib or used. If that's what you like, I'd stick with it if it was me. Just my .02 though.

The new Energy reels look SO good w/the orange accents. They make me drool...

If you like the Kinetic and that basic braking system, then fish them as well as the Accurist.  Both fine reels you can find for great prices on the Bay.  Or stick with the Smokes.  You are the one fishing it.  As long as the reels are PT (performance tuned) they are all going to do what you want them to do just some weigh more then others.   The Kinetic and Accurist have the same IPT but one weighs a half an ounce less.  Fish what you like regardless of what others may believe, good or bad because their always will be both sides.

I have all of the above mentioned and j feel the same way. Fortunaly I have 3 TEPT...I think it's the best reel quantum has made in many moons. As far as 2/3 stop PT braking like the TEPT I like the smoke over the EXO by far. Because like a TEPT, kinetic or smoke they have that nice solid feel and fits nice in Palm. My 2 cents

If you got a good shape TEPT carbon fiber handle burner on eBay for less than $200 when its shipped and all ID be shocked!

Not many like Quantum reels and to me brand doesn't matter too much but one thing I can tell you is that I really like my Smoke reels, both the 100 and 150 and if I was going to do 1 I'd go with the 150. I've had mine for 4 years and all is well, and I've had other but to me the smoke is the best reel they ever made.

I have an exo and love it. The only thing I don't like Is the fact that you have to take off the side plate to access the brakes. But then again I haven't had to adjust them since I set the reel up, and I throw 1/4 oz to 3/4 oz baits with it.

I fish several Quantum casting reels.

From Michigan to Mexico and a few places in between, the PPT (below), SPT & HPT models have all proven themselves to me.

I love the quantums that I have, especially dor long distance casts... If I were to get one of their new offerings I would look at the energy pt. These are multipurpose reels that perform well for distance casting and also pitching, and other short accurate casting duties...

I owned one Quantum reel, I sold it last year.  It was the older Quantum Energy reel.  It was a solid work horse reel and used it for 2 years.  The only thing I didn't like was that it wasn't easy to palm for me.  Other than that, smooooth reel.

Kinda off topic but I love the Quantum smoke rods. Micro guides that are not brittle and break off easy compared to the Veritas. They're super light and affordable.$100-$130. Never tried the EXO rods because of price but have 2 smokes and 2 Tour KVD cranking rods

Wow thanks for the feedback from everybody got my Tour Kvd in today and it's sweet beyond the charts. I'll propally buy another one, but for jigs and chatter baits im kinda between looking for the 08-09 Tour PT which I really just love or buying new smokes. I don't like to have to take the side plate of to adjust brakes, why I don't use shimanos. We won't go there

I own quite a few Quantum Energy reels and they are great. I have no reason to go with something more expensive unless I need something else like a lower gear ratio or larger reel.

I've got an Exo and I like it. My only knock on it is it seems loud on the cast, but it gets plenty of distance. When I put it on my St. Croix Legend Xtreme the whole combo felt like I was holding a feather in my hands.
