mikeeasttn Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Igo on the average of 8 times a month except for Jan and Feb when our weather here is very cold. During these 2 months I only get to go 3 or 4 times as I cannot stand cold weather as good as I used too Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 28, 2015 Super User Posted January 28, 2015 I have been going out 120+ times a year for the last 10 years. I am usually on the water by the 2nd week of April till early Nov. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted January 28, 2015 Super User Posted January 28, 2015 I would love to fish 100 plus days a year , I just cant justify it to my family. So I get out about once every two weeks in good weather but when I do go its usually dusk to dawn . Quote
Zach Dunham Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I don't count the days but for the entire year I probably average once per week, so somewhere between 50-60 times. Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted January 28, 2015 Super User Posted January 28, 2015 ACTUAL fishing or daydreaming about fishing? I don't fish anywhere near as much as I would like. I don't see myself going out every day but every other day would be pretty sweet. Apart from my trips to Canada, the most fishing I've ever done was when my g-friend was out of country. I fished 12 days in a row then. Quote
punch Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I'm lucky enough to live within 25 minutes of 3 good fishing lakes. I have a small boat that's quick to hookup and launch, so I typically fish 2-3 times a week in the summer. Hit the water a few hours after work and then on the wekends. Luckly my oldest kid is getting old enough to go out with me for a couple hours here and there (5yo). I don't ice fish so I don't fish at all during the winter. i really need to get into ice fishing someday. Quote
Jtrout Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Mostly everyday for a few hours except when it's iced over Quote
mjseverson24 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 from may to november I typically fish minimum of three days a week. two of the days are at least 8 hours and more often than not 12+... not sure how many days total I get out because of vacation and weather, but I know this last year I fished 47 different lakes, and most of them I fished at least twice... Mitch Quote
BasshunterJGH Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Maybe 30 days last year. Not enough. Hopefully more in 2015 Quote
Super User geo g Posted January 29, 2015 Super User Posted January 29, 2015 Some of the numbers you guys are saying are insane (200, 300)... I can't imagine actually fishing that much even though I would if I could. It is awesome that you do but the sheer amount is hard for me to fathom. I fish from late march to early November and go once a week most of the time but maybe twice a week a third of the time. So likely between 30-40 trips. These are all trips I consider to be a minimum of 5 hours of fishing upwards of 12 depending on the outing so an hour of pond fishing up the street probably add another 10. Corn, I used to fish a bunch of lakes in Ohio when in college. Mosquito Lake, West Branch, Milton. and Mogadore Lake. 1 Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted January 29, 2015 Super User Posted January 29, 2015 Spring/summer/fall probably 3-4 times a week. Winter, maybe 1 a week or every other week. Quote
grampa1114 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 May 1 to Oct 31 I fish 3 days...MonDAY, ThursDAY, SaturDAY and any other DAY that I can get out. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted January 29, 2015 Super User Posted January 29, 2015 Not enough X2 But seriously, I still have 16+ years until retirement, unless the city ups the retirement age, so I can't say every day, but I try to get out at least once or twice a week for at least an hour or two. I'm lucky I've got three ponds near me that I can stop at between jobs, shifts, taxiing swim meets and dance lessons. 2014 was a better year because I bought fishing kayaks for the family. I made sure to get out for 1/2 days when time allowed. Planning on 2015 being a better year.... Quote
EvanT123 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 175 plus or minus. Basically from 4/1-11/30 depending on the weather. A majority of these trips are 1-2 hours after or before work. Last year I went out on the boat or canoe 30-40 but hope to put more time on the boat this season. Quote
Vanbassin Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 We lucky here in South Africa, our weather in KZN where i stay is good all year round, winter in KZN goes down to 18 degrees celcius if even that far!! So i try go once a weekend, through out the year!! 1 Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted January 30, 2015 Super User Posted January 30, 2015 Not as much as I used to. For a number of years I fished 100 to 150 days a year, from 4 to 14hr days. Schooling, jobs, and family arrested that development. But I've become a better man for it. I don't smell quite so bad and can speak in full sentences. All I used to say was "Fish on. Good Day!" Hey Vanbassin, cool having a S African basser here! 1 Quote
tch2391 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 7 days a week year round. Fish saltwater in the morning and freshwater in the afternoon. I could count on 2 hands the times I missed last year. This... Is what I think about when I'm having a rough day at work, the hope of moving south someday having the time/funds to fish all the time Quote
Vanbassin Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Paul Roberts, thanks, love being on this forum, maybe one day ill come to the States for a fishing trip(Dream of mine) tight lines!! Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted January 30, 2015 Super User Posted January 30, 2015 I had a S African fishing partner for a while. He took his fishing very seriously and called himself a "Kingfisher". Do you know the term? And... he was darn good. Had the knack if you know what I mean. We had some pretty exciting trips together including a great winter steelheading trip in which I had to keep hiking him out to the car to warm his uninsulated toes. A huge low pressure system had descended and it was absolutely silent. Giant snowflakes were just wafting down. You could hear each snowflake landing. We had the river entirely to ourselves and it was full of fresh chromers. It was magical. At one point, Brahm said "It is just SO beautiful. But my feet are SO cold!" We drove home in a heck of a blizzard in 4WD with the right tires. Cars were off the road all over, stuck in ditches. It was exciting, but I was younger then! Brahm was taken by the wild frigid scene outside as we barreled through the storm and he asked... "What ... what do the animals do out there??" And no sooner had he said it when a winter white weasel ran across the road in front of the car. Brahm caught his first steelhead with me, a pretty 7lb buck wearing spawning colors, and after he beached it he scooped it up and kissed it right on the snout, and said with utter reverence: "This is the happiest day of my life". Brahm breathed a lot of life into that word "Kingfisher" and I'd share a beat with him any day. 2 Quote
LunkerFisher Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I hadn't counted, but my best estimate would have to be around 30 days in 2014. I'm at 1 so far for 2015. I'm new though, and the lady isn't quite yet used to it. We're young too, so I have some years to get an increasing trend going Quote
KritterGitter Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Bass fishing is from Sept-June, take a break from the heat in the summer to target the surf. Bass fishing daily and come summer time in the surf its once a week and an all day event, get there early mid day and leave at sunup the next day. Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted February 1, 2015 Super User Posted February 1, 2015 In spring/summer/fall I try to go everyday as long as weather and schedule allow. Quote
JOBU2 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Not enough. Work gets in the way. On average I'd say 60 times a year. Quote
hawghound Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I agree with earlier posts, "not enough" which works out to be about 25 times a year. Quote
