This question started with my quest to find out if the co polymer P-line CX floats.

While checking, some were referring to this line as a mono filament with a fluorocarbon coating. I know it has a flouro coating, but underneath that coating is it a mono; or Is a co polymer a completely different animal.

Of course, it would still be nice to know if P-line CX floats, as well.

Yes, I got that. What is a co-poly? How does it differ in make-up (construction) to a mono?

Mono or monofilament line is the more common name given to Nylon fishing line.  What it actually is, is a single stranded polymer.   Co-polymer fishing lines are lines that blend multiple polymers together to combine the best properties, they are technically still Monofilament line.

Thanks. I did go a little further in my investigation and found that while mono. lines float, making it ideal for topwater, co-polymers do not float, they have greater abrasion resistance, and increased knot strength and less spool memory.. I'm not sure if the flourcarbon coating of the P-Line CX makes it as invisible as a full flouro, (probably not) but it may help some.

I was actually hoping it floated because, if it did, I wanted to use it between the weight and hook on a Carolina rig - liking the knot strength and flouro coating - and I have a lot of it.

Yes, I get what you are saying about technically being a mono (single) filament line, but made up of multiple polymer resins.

Thanks for the help - sorry I was continuing to investigate while, at the same time asking the question on here. I got my info from a KVD post..

It will make it invisible, but eventually the coating will wear off and it will not be quite as invisible.

Are you sure? And if so does it matter? Everyone has their own take on these questions I'm just encouraging keeping an open mind and not drinking the cool-aid.

More invisible than regular non coated line... I guess I should have clarified... my mistake. Also, I don't think it's a huge deal, as I have not really had a problem fishing 12-17# XL Mono in terms of line shy fish..
