For the most part, the only thing on a US made rod is the blank and thread finish. Some of St. Croix's grips are made in house too. Cork is from Portugal, thread from China, guides, reel seats and hook keeps from somewhere offshore.

Exactly what this guy said. Most companies do this because majority of good guide and reel seats companies are from overseas (FUJI, ALPS, Kigan, Pac-Bay).

Cashion rods are also made in the USA.

Give Mike a call at Delaware Valley Tackle and have him build you a custom. It'll be American made and built just for you.

Ideal!  I like this idea, on an American made St. Croix blank!  Support the independent American craftsmen when you can!

Sorry I scanned over this quickly but noticed a few things.

1st Batson Rainshadow blanks are nice, but are built in Asia. I do like their blanks for the price though

Then there are other companies like Phenix and Dobyns that are American companies but source labor and construction from Asia.

If you want true American companies that sell fully built rods, ie...not custom. The only ones I know of for sure are:

Loomis

Edge

St Croix

Cousins

Seeker (I'm pretty sure roll the blanks here...)

Are you looking for an American company or a product thats built in America and made with American components too? It could get tough searching for the all American products these days.

BTW I'm not sure if it matters to you but that Lews reel isn't made in the USA.

I got a request to build just such an animal last year. After researching and finding all US made components, he didn't like the price I arrived at. Also, it wouldn't have been the best performing rod, but he wanted all US components.

This is a great subject!!  :) What is more important actually is who is the designer of the rods and do they fish competitively and/or know what fisherman want? Now that is the better question!

Thanks for all the input. I know it would be tough to get a quality rod made in U.S. with all U.S. components, but made by American craftsmen is what I'm looking for. The way I look at it, why spend $150-200 for something made in China when I can put an American to work for the same amount as long as the quality is there.

I know the Lews is imported but wanted to put that in just to say I was happy with the reel and I was shopping for a rod. Castaway is building the rod I'm looking for. Made in Texas for a good price.

I'm really glad we at least have some American made products to choose from. Many times we don't.

American made tires have been made with imported rubber since before there were cars. What that has to do with how many American jobs are from making tires is beyond me. The origin of the rubber matters little to me. It's who made the final product. Same goes for a rod.

Cousins rods are American made and are really nice. You can find them on tackle warehouse.

I don't own any, but I have felt them before at a local dealer. The Raze series are really good for the price, definetly better than many other rods at the price point.
