Gunnysack Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Hello I have a cabelas tournament zx baitcaster. I took it apart to clean it today and when I put it back together the handler was very hard to turn and the spool does not spin. Anybody have any ideas what might be wrong? Thanks, Gunnysack Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted January 25, 2015 Super User Posted January 25, 2015 Which one is it? The newest model (Daiwa Laguna) or the older one (Rapala Shift)? You may have 2 different problems there. Quote
Gunnysack Posted January 25, 2015 Author Posted January 25, 2015 I believe it was last years model. I know it's not the diawa Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted January 25, 2015 Super User Posted January 25, 2015 This is why I don't like to tinker. Would be very frustrating if I did that. Besides, I hear Mike would like to retire some day so send him all your work. Kidding aside, I can't help given the fact of my first statement. I would love to do my own reels, but fear keeps me sending them out. Quote

OroBass Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Very hard to answer this question. Open reel back up and make sure the main gear and spool pinion gear are lined up. Make sure spool bearings are correctly installed. Thats about all I can think of as far as the parts effecting spool rotation Quote
OroBass Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 When you are new to this take pictures and have the reels schematic handy 1 Quote
Gunnysack Posted January 25, 2015 Author Posted January 25, 2015 Here I have a picture with the big gear removed. Does everything look like it's supposed to here? Quote
Gunnysack Posted January 25, 2015 Author Posted January 25, 2015 Sorry says file too big to upload. I'll try later Quote
Mr Swim Jig Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 It kind of sounds like that you have the one-way needle bearing pushed in a little to far and it is binding up the reel. Quote

Delaware Valley Tackle Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 It's impossible to say without seeing it. If you haven't obtain a schematic and make sure everything is there. Keep in mind it's primarily a part list and may not necessarily show assembly order or part orientation. Quote
Gunnysack Posted January 26, 2015 Author Posted January 26, 2015 Thanks to all who tried to help. I found I had my big gear in the wrong spot and it slipped and wouldn't turn. The reel works good now. The parts diagram comes in handy. Thanks again, Gunnysack 1 Quote
