JT Bagwell Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Any of you guys get any big bucks this season? I didn't get anything, never even shot my bow at a deer. Quote
KritterGitter Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Nope, didnt even see one to shoot, full moon most of the seasons along with warm temps I think made for a bad year. Shot a spike on a dead run, thought he was a doe....Oh well filled the freezer a lil more. My butcher said the rifle and early muzzleloader season were the worst he has seen in 5 years 1 Quote

KritterGitter Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Yea I know its prob a excuse(a good one lol) but I hunted all but 6 days out of 33 dawn till dusk and never saw a shooter buck. Although I only hunted 4 days total last year and bagged my pb... Hmmm that math don't add up. Luck+preparation... 1 Quote
JT Bagwell Posted January 23, 2015 Author Posted January 23, 2015 I think I just started too late. I never even went to my good place until after the first gun season ended. Next year I will be ready right at the start of bow season. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted January 23, 2015 Super User Posted January 23, 2015 What's a buck? Lol I'm having my worst season ever. Deer is over now though had been for over a month and I never had one in range during gun season and only one during bow. Now coyote/fox is full swing looked promising at first I called one in ever set but was trying to get a buddy into the sport and let him do the shooting at least that was the plan. He never pulled the trigger on several occasions of me calling fox in to about 70yards broad side he couldn't find if in his scope. I've been on a 6 week dry spell now with out seeing a thing headed up north for the foxpro NYS coyote contest today hunting non stop all weekend for coyote and hopfully a bobcat. 1 Quote
JT Bagwell Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 My only deer within range this season walked right under my stand when I had a tree branch in my hand. The branch had been within my line of sight the whole day and in the afternoon I had enough and was removing it. That is when I heard something and turned to see a big bodied spike buck right behind me. I was thinking to myself "ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?" The deer never knew I was there and literally walked right under my stand. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted March 13, 2015 Super User Posted March 13, 2015 My misses is feeding a large herd of deer, mainly pregnant does, there two year old fawns and there one year old fawns. There here every night all night long. We have the good corn that's coated with molasses. Now the daddy to all these babies is almost 275lbs with a 16pt rack. He came through my field one day while we were repairing a tractor. He had 8 does with him. I hope he lives a few more years yet to spread those genes. We need to get out and look for sheds soon. I have the granddaddy of all bucks at my camp in vt. He's well over 300lbs and a rack that looks like 20pts. He stays out of range. There's a ridge that faces the north and gets the cold air from Canada all the time. He has a separate run above the does run. I use a bdc (bullet drop compisation) scope that has a adjustable turret that adjusts from 100yds out to 500yds with no error. Hoping a get a shot someday is why I still go hunting. 1 Quote
jiggerpole Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I saw one good buck and took a 6 point the same day. Here is a video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcTB68_xOVA 1 Quote

JT... that's why you didn't get anything dude... You are supposed to shoot the arrow at the deer! Not the bow! 1 Quote
jhoffman Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I was on a few decent bucks nothing giant. Couldn't seal the deal. Those mountain bucks run the 1/3 elevation of the ridge on the leeward side of the wind for the day. Allows them to smell top and bottom at the same time. Way more efficient than running around everywhere. 1 Quote

Capt.Bob Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 I missed 6 weeks of prime time November 19th till the 3rd of January, all of gun season which I don't really care about but almost the whole rut was wasted, still put 6 in the freezer and got a nice 153 7/8" 13 pointer,,, 10 point main frame with a gorgeous bleed hole on the right main beam!!! all but 2 doe came off public Forrest, 10's of 1000's of acres to get away from the crowds in,,,,,I love it. The Buck came with 5 days left in the season. It was after passing a couple 120" to 130" 8 and 9 pointers earlier in the season, and exactly why I pass these smaller bucks up, with only one buck a year the big buck would have had a free pass. If you have hunters in sight of your property,,,,,,,,well lets just say your odd's of scoring just went way down in most cases!!! Quote
