Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 28, 2015 Super User Posted January 28, 2015 I did see the movie yesterday, it was intense. I would have liked to seen more time spent after Kyle's 4 th tour dealing with PTSD before his death. As far as the book embellishment goes, Jesse Ventura did win a defamation of character suit, in a court of law it was proved the incident never happened. The 2009 story about the car jackers, no record of a Pentagon call, no record of police being on the scene and no dead bodies were found. No record I've seen of him findings WMD's, claimed to be biological stored in drums from France. In the movie he did find conventional weapons in the floor of a home. Another sketchy story is Katrina and Bush sending military snipers to shoot looters, Kyle claimed to have killed 30. Claimed to be a bounty on his head for $180k with posters of him being circulated. There was a bounty on all American snipers, 20-$80,000, not only him. To Kyle's credit a charity fund was started for veterans using the funds from his book about 3 million dollars, so far it's reported $50,000 has been donated. Sure he was a hero, along with every other person that served in the military past and present. Quote
GLADES Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I saw the movie last weekend with my wife. At the end of the movie, there wasn't a sound coming from the packed theater. Everyone quietly left. Very powerful and sureal. For those who have never experienced combat, this seemed like a real depiction. Kyle is a hero in my book. He risked his life repeatedly, and his wife (as well as all the miltary wives) was a hero too. Regarding Ventura. I wasn't a fan of his and I think even less of him now. Suing Kyle's wife(estate) is a low blow. I want to read the book now.. 1 Quote

zachb34 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Very good movie one if the best I've seen actually. Being 18 it's made me consider joining the military a little bit. Quote

Not discouraging at all, but sleep on it bud. Quote
scrutch Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Yeah, I gotta see that one. If Michael Moore hates it, then I'm sure I'll love it! It's a must see for me! Quote

Very unlikely that I would after 3 heart surgeries but you never know where life takes you I guess. Quote
