Super User roadwarrior Posted January 21, 2015 Super User Posted January 21, 2015 AWESOME... When the movie ended the crowd rose from their seats to applaud...AWESOME! :usa-flag-89: 6 Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted January 21, 2015 Super User Posted January 21, 2015 All I've heard is good feedback. Hell, even my wife wants to see it. Im sure Mr Cooper being in the movie has NOTHING to do with that either. LOL Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted January 21, 2015 Super User Posted January 21, 2015 I wanna go see that bad! Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 21, 2015 Super User Posted January 21, 2015 I have heard it is a good movie but since I returned from Viet Nam I have not nor will I see any "war" movies. That's just me. Glad everyone enjoyed it. And by the way, not being political, but I hate Jane Fonda. 10 Quote

"Sniper" is a sad story, a patriotic story, but being ex- military.. Some of the preview scenes have hit home with me, soo I'm probably going to wait till it's on DVD .. Quote
Smokinal Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 My son is a Senior in HS, going to college for Criminal Justice. Wants to join the Army after and be a Ranger. He eventually wants to be a sniper as well. My son did a book report on it and I read it after; can't wait to see the movie too! Also ibtl... Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted January 21, 2015 Super User Posted January 21, 2015 polarizing topic, destined for a locked thread.... that said, i'm not paying $15 at the theatre to see ANY movie, period. perhaps when it's on dvd or the internet i may watch it, but not paying an arm and a leg to watch it in a large crowd. 1 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 21, 2015 Author Super User Posted January 21, 2015 Not polarizing at all. My wife...well let's just say she is from Venus and I am from Mars. She loved the movie. Believe it or not, American Sniper is nearly a Chick Flick! The audience was almost exclusively couples. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 21, 2015 Super User Posted January 21, 2015 I have been wanting to see this movie so bad. I just have not had the time. I watched an interview with Bradley Cooper and Taya. It was amazing to learn what they went through just to film the movie. Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted January 21, 2015 Super User Posted January 21, 2015 Was a fantastic movie. Knew it would be. Chris Kyle had asked that Clint Eastwood direct it when the subject came up at the beginning. If you haven't already, I strongly suggest you read the book. Movies are great, but the books truly go through every moment and really put you in it too. That was my experience with American Sniper, The Lone Survivor and The Ice Man. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted January 21, 2015 Super User Posted January 21, 2015 I bought the book the other day finally haven't had a chance to read it yet, I've been passing out before my kids lately lol Quote
BaitMonkey1984 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Great movie. My best friend had the honor of meeting the hero, Chris Kyle , overseas during his three tours with the Marine Core. He couldn't say enough nice things about him. These are the real heroes, glad people are seeing the movie so they can see what these men and women sacrifice for the rest of us. Thank a vet. Quote
Mass Bassin' Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 haven't seen it but I want too... dose he shoot the kid with the "grenade" Quote

A lot of my buddies are in the military, a few of them never made it home alive (RIP Ricky and Travis). Movies like this give me an overwhelming feeling of love and support for our men and women who lay it all on the line. At the same time, I am also overwhelmed with a feeling of disgust for what they have to deal with (from enemy and OUR rules (ROE specifically) while on duty. To me if you are sent to war... It's war and you have already been engaged (otherwise why are there boots on the ground). Just my 2 cents! God bless vets and actives! 3 Quote
atcoha Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Great movie. It also gave me overwhelming feelings and emotion of what our armed forces must go through. Bittersweet. Utmost respect to our men and women of the armed forces. Quote
Super User Lund Explorer Posted January 22, 2015 Super User Posted January 22, 2015 I guess I'll wait until I can watch it sitting at home. One question though. The movie's trailer shows him talking to his wife on the satellite phone at a time when it looks like he is fully engaged in combat. Really? Isn't there anything a guy can do without having the wife pester him on the phone? Quote

Super User .ghoti. Posted January 22, 2015 Super User Posted January 22, 2015 Just finished the book. Looking forward to the movie. Every comment I've heard about the movie is extremely positive. This may the the one time when you can say the movie is better than the book, which is a statement I've never made. Quote
Cgrinder Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 I'll read the book at some point. I'm glad people like the movie. Quote

If the previews hit home with you you might want to skip te movie all together, I just got back from seeing it and I don't feel too hot. Good movie, pretty real though. 1 Quote
