atcoha Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Got my flu shot a few months ago, first time for me. My son came home from ball practice last week, said he did not feel good...by morning he was burning up and complaining of sore throat, wife took him to Dr. Said he had some kind of resp. infection...he was sick all weekend(his birthday, poor kid), and with his diabetes, it can really get scary. Finally went back to school yesterday, feels better, still a small cough. So Monday, I had to go to Ga to work, figured I would just stay the night, such a long drive, by the time I got there Monday, I felt like, crud. I worked through the day to get this job done, I decided to drive home instead of staying, I felt the worst was coming, glad I did. Been sweatin' like a hog for two days laying around at the house. I feel better today, probably go back to work tomorrow. Man, when it hits you, it can really bring you to a screeching halt. Sorry for the rambling, but I have been stuck here for 2 days, and everything on the fishing network is repeats... Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 21, 2015 Super User Posted January 21, 2015 I had a sinus infection and head cold for two weeks up here in Virginia. Finally broke last night and I feel so much better. Hardly coughing any more and sinuses are not going bonkers with the post nasal drip and sore throat. Hope you all get better. Chicken soup. Remember chicken soup. It really works on colds and flu. Don't have any idea why but the Britons swear by it and it does work. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted January 21, 2015 Super User Posted January 21, 2015 I have had a cold since Friday night. Back hurts, shoulders hurt, and my chest is sore from coughing. Now my voice is starting to go. If I have fever it is so slight I can't feel it. Quote
aceman387 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Another vote for the chicken soup.I like to make homemade with extra garlic and onion. I have had people tell me hot & sour soup from a chinese restaurant works fabulous for cold/flu symptoms also. Quote
atcoha Posted January 21, 2015 Author Posted January 21, 2015 x2 on the soup. I know it works... While my kids were at school and wife at work yesterday, my dear mom brought over some soup and grilled ham and cheese...she is sick with a fever today. Sorry mom... Quote
WdyCrankbait Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 yep, my wife and I have it now. We are to try some hot and spicy food to help us to break the fever. This years flu is awful! Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Me too... ugh I feel so gross. Quote
Rhino68W Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I'm a medic at a health clinic on Fort Riley, KS. We have been seeing many poeple with the flu lately. This years Flu vaccine was only about 23% effective. The influenza virus mutated a little faster than the vaccine could be produced. Somehow I have been able to avoid it, hopefully it stays that way!!! Quote
Hyrule Bass Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 i had a terrible case of the flu last year, kept me home from work for a week, and i wasnt truely better until about 3 weeks later. i went back to work that 2nd week and it was rough making it through the day. for most of the first week i laid in my bed sleeping balled up in the corner of it looking like a postage stamp lol. rather than having no taste, everything tasted absolutely horrible, plus i didnt really have an appetite anyways. wasnt very congested, but had a cough, and had coughed so much my ribs hurt. i had never been that sick in my life though, and i made the whole house sick. it took tamiflu to start feeling better though... Super User gardnerjigman Posted January 26, 2015 Super User Posted January 26, 2015 Whatever hit our house (4 of us) lasted about 24 hours for each person. About 12 hours involved a fever... All hours included bathroom hell! 1 Quote

It was a rough 24 hours though, especially for the little guy. Quote
atcoha Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 Feeling much much better, still a slight congestion, but I feel good. Some people at work and their kids are sick...this year it's getting around. Quote
