I haven't fished jerkbaits in the past but I would like to this coming season. That being said, I'm not looking to make a massive investment into them, I would rather buy a handful, see if I can get them to work for me and then go from there. So, if you had to reduced your jerkbait assortment down to 6, which weighs make the cut? Would you carry 6 of the same make, just in different sizes and colours, or would you carry a couple from different manufacturers? I'll be targeting mostly smallies in clear, natural Canadian lakes. Thanks in advance!

This is an easy one for me.

Lucky Craft Pointer 100 & 100DD and the Duo Realis 120SP & 100DR.

Pick colors that match the bait in your area and go fishing.

I have had good luck in NY state with Live Target perch lures.

My favorite is the Strike king KVD 200,in either yellow perch, or natural bream.

I would go with 6 different brands/makes, as they will all have different actions. My favorites (for a fair price) are: Lucky Craft pointer series, The luck E strike Rick Clunn's (my favorite for the price), the Jackall squad minnow, and the spro mcstick. Those are all really good for the price, I would just pick out a couple different colors. If you want to spend the extra money than go with a MegaBass, but I carry 10 of the other brands to 1 MegaBass. Good Luck, jerkbait fishing is one of my favorite ways to fish.

Duo, yo Zuri, spro, lucky craft, river2sea, and megabass. Get a few floaters and some that suspend. A few different sizes and patterns and you should be set.

Spro McStick 110  and McRip85  in Blue Bandit / Clear Chartreuse   LC Pointer 100SP and 100DD in Ghost Minnow and American shad, so many great color choices in the line, hard to list only a couple.     Luck E Strike STX 4.5 in French Pearl and Pro Blue.

can't go wrong with Lucky Craft pointers.  i myself like the smaller 78 size, but most seem to prefer the 100's

Surprised nobody mentioned the Rapala X-rap, which is really a decent jerkbait for the price.

Thanks for the replies, I really appreciate your input! Except for the slightly off topic line recommendation, I'm good there, thanks... Also, just to nip this in the bud, I won't be replacing any treble hooks with Mustads...

Thanks for all the help guys! I decided to pull the trigger on a few lures now rather than wait around. This is what I picked up:

2 Jackall SM 115 SP's, one each in Matte Pearl White and Aurora Black
1 Jackall SM 92 SP in Matte Pearl White
1 Lucky Craft Pointer 120 SP in Flake Male Gill
I Duo Realis 120 SP in Ghost Minnow
2 Rapala XR10's, 1 each in Perch and Clown
3 Rapala XR8's, 1 each in Silver Blue, Glass Ghost and Olive Green
1 Rapala XRS6 in Olive Green
1 Rapala XRS8 in Yellow Perch

I already had the Rapala's but I didn't get around to using them last season. Now if this weather would kindly make itself scarce, all would be good...

I have never seen a LC Pointer 120 SP. Is that a typo?

If typo is short for prototypo, the yes. It's just in the beginning stages, but everything is pointing in a very positive direction so far!

In all seriousness, I just goofed a bit. I meant to type 100 SP.

I like shallow running jerkbaits for the places I fish, my favorite is discontinued and I only have 5 left.  I have caught more bass and peacocks on a Blaze minnow.  Another shallow lure I like is Rapala flat rap mainly used for peacocks. The only complaint I have is durability, fishing for peas I hit bridges and culverts a lot breaking off the lip, open water no problem.  I break the lips on xraps too but I like them as well.
