scupbaron Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 retooling for spring...whats preffered wighted hook size/style for baby rage craw rage rigged? Really not alot weighted hook options under 4/0, and a lot of them are heavy wire types. Overkill for me since I generally fish 6-10lb line. I really like owner twistlock lights for everything and gone as far as wrapping solder on 2/0 and 3/0 hooks Did real well with these little devils late in season here rigging them various ways, wish played with them lot sooner Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 19, 2015 Super User Posted January 19, 2015 Moaner 1/8 oz 2/0 http://moanerhooks.com/product/the-weighted-stroker/ 1 Quote
Super User Shane J Posted January 19, 2015 Super User Posted January 19, 2015 My hook of choice, is the weighted Moaner Stick'R hook. Baby Craw gets the 3/0, and I generally like about 1/4oz up to 3/8oz for Rage Rigging. Quote
scupbaron Posted January 19, 2015 Author Posted January 19, 2015 Thanks, ..they look ideal. I sifted through ***'s and basspro's offerings and couldnt find what i was looking for to get where i wanna go. basspro has pinch on weights i can make own but wouldnt be as streamlined as those moaners. owner needs something like that in there lineup. I see those stik'r pins they sell on there site too, was looking for something like that for the elastech worms/baits instead of fighting with and heating springs. Quote
EastTexasBassin Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 The baby craw is one of my favorite drop shot baits. I usually nose hook it with a circle hook. 1 Quote

Super User rippin-lips Posted January 19, 2015 Super User Posted January 19, 2015 Owner has a light wire weighted hook. The weight can be moved on the hook shank to change how the bait falls. Quote

Hyrule Bass Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 i like to t-rig them weightless on a 1/0 ewg gamakatsu worm hook. they fall so slow and the bass just swoop in and devour them. on this hook i can swim it in the water, drag it on the bottom slow, lift it and let it fall back down, etc. i even swim it in as a top water bait letting the claws create a ruckus on the surface...very versatile bait... 1 Quote

I was essentially fishing them that way this fall in local pond i call my test pond ...little solder wrapped on twistlock light hook shank only difference ..they smashed it on light spinning gear. Would like to get a nice vertical fall and longer cast though and be able to use on baitcast outfit. Quote

Would like to get a nice vertical fall and longer cast though and be able to use on baitcast outfit. i fish them on spinning gear only. i get a nice vertical slow fall on slack line, ive fished them on between 8 and 12lb mono and on occasion 6(depends on the algae in the pond i fish), the fall rate of and the type of line could be the difference...though it doesnt weigh much i guess, that twist lock could affect the balance of the weight too, changing a vertical fall into a slight nose dive... scupbaron Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 figured i should do follow up...moaner strokers have been the answer, been doing a number on the fish with them. Biggest surprise has been the stroker coupled with the elaztech crawdadz in the 1/8 size when conditions allow ..fish cant stay off it The thing's practically indestructible too, Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted June 2, 2015 Super User Posted June 2, 2015 I generally go with a Gammy 3/0 EWG, a 1/4oz sinker, and a force bead. Quote
