kingmotorboat Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 So I decided I would take my shakyheads out on my *** and *** black medium. I lost one not sure what it was. Got it to the top splashed then I lost it. Line broke twice on me #12 invisx. Never got another bite. Bad bad day. Many bad words were said Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted January 20, 2015 Super User Posted January 20, 2015 That's fishing... Gotta love it! Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted January 20, 2015 Super User Posted January 20, 2015 Hmmm sounds like user error. (No offense, we are ALL guilty of it). I would bet that the problem is in the knot or drag settings, unless you fish some really rocky bottom. You should be excited about getting bites at all this time of year! Quote
cyclops2 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Older line in the sun ? I remove the reel & store it or put it where no sunshine can reach it..............Not up there either. Quote

No reason 12# invizx should break of you do that and set proper drag. My shaky head line is 8# seagar red label, with a polamar knot (again, wet it down before you cinch it). Never have a breaking issue. Good luck! Quote
kingmotorboat Posted January 20, 2015 Author Posted January 20, 2015 I had the drag fine and the line was new plus I wet the Palomar also. I think just a bad day and I backlashed a couple of times so yes it was operator error also haha Quote

cyclops2 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Cayjun red 4# test braid CAN slip over time. I use the Improved Triline Knot. It does slip on the 4# test, After tying the knot I tie a 1/2 hitch in the loose end. then pull hard enough to let the 1/2 hitch JAM against the Triline KNOT. Never a slip. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 20, 2015 Global Moderator Posted January 20, 2015 Try a San Diego Jam instead of Palomar with flouro. 2 Quote
Mass Bassin' Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 some people love it but it was probably the invisx, I hate it. Red Label is so much better. Quote
Super User HoosierHawgs Posted January 20, 2015 Super User Posted January 20, 2015 Try a San Diego Jam instead of Palomar with flouro.X2.. Palomar has a reputation for being weak w/fluorocarbon. Quote
