basscatcher8 Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Alright ive been playing with createx pearl silver color. When i shoot it i get bubbles forming in the paint. It wont spray smooth. I have to let it dry an do another coat and sometimes that wont even smooth it out. I have the biggest tip that came with the airbrush like a .35 and ive thinned out the paint as much as i can without it running right off the bait when i spray. any ideas? Quote
BIG M Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 ctex pearl colors are very tough to spray thru any tip, but 1 that small will be almost impossible. Try thinning the paint just a little and uping the air pressure to about 35psi. The bubbles are the pearls in the paint blowing out in globs, I hate that. Wildlife colors makes a bright silver metal flake paint that I spray thru a .35mm tip without any thinning or increase in air pressure. Ctex is about 4th on my list as paints good for airbrushing baits. I have not tried the auto-air series yet but I heard good things about it. Quote
dampeoples Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Marty is dead on with the tip, but i've been trying to figure out if thinning really helps with pearls and metallics. I'm pretty sure that you can't really break down the actual pearl, just the paint base when you thin, but I may be wrong. AA is made by the Createx folks, it's a little bit thinner due to the nature of the paint, but nothing like the WC. Quote
