Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 18, 2015 Global Moderator Posted January 18, 2015 kanasbassfisher08 and I were chasing bass last Friday and doing pretty good pitching beavers at trees in 1-6 feet of water. I pulled my bait over a limb and had several good thumps but none that held onto it. I had a feeling what it was so I dropped a 3" power minnow next to the tree and got a thump almost immediately and swung in a big crappie, 11 more just like it followed. Didn't measure it but a Plano 3700 box is 14x9 inches for a size reference. All released to bite again another day. 3 Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted January 18, 2015 Super User Posted January 18, 2015 Nice fish Clayton! I would have been tempted to take some home and have a fish fry. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 18, 2015 Author Global Moderator Posted January 18, 2015 I almost tossed them in the livewell for whichever one of my buddies wanted to come get them when I got home, but decided against it. I don't eat fish and Chris didn't feel like filleting them so back they went. Only allowed to keep 5 a person over 12" on this lake but 10 14" crappie is a pretty good mess of fish. 1 Quote

Super User everythingthatswims Posted January 21, 2015 Super User Posted January 21, 2015 In the places that I crappie fish, if you had a 100 fish day, you would be lucky to get one that size. I can't imagine what the outlier of that class of fish would be! Go catch the world record nuke crappie Quote
Catch 22 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Great catch. 10 14" crappies would be something to get real excited about around here. Iv`e fished more for them this year because all of my usual spots iced up. Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted January 23, 2015 Super User Posted January 23, 2015 Glad you released her back into the gene pool. Quote
