I was Crappie fishing today with minnows under a cork. I was throwing right up against Cypress Trees. All of a sudden, I got bit by something a little bit bigger than a crappie. Reeled it in and it was a 2lb bass! Pretty surprised that size bass ate that little Minnow. In addition, it was quite a fight on my ultralight spooled with 6lb monofilament!

When you use live bait you are rarely going to catch just one species. It's just depends on what was there

Tight lines

A crappie and cypress trees? Hmmmm...

The fellas jump all over me if I call them crappie anywhere cypress trees exist which is way down South- where I get ridiculed unless I call them specks.

They call me a yankee if I call them crappie!

I bet it was a fun fight on ultra light tackle!

Ray Scott would be proud!

(Since he pushed really hard for a national light tackle fad on 6 pound test. He even developed his own line of rods made by Kistler just for his 6 pound test campaign)

Up here one of the HOT DS baits are tiny Crappie or Ice Fishing Plastics.
