fisherrw Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Nicr!! Does any one know how long the deal is going for?? Quote
PNWdude Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 My local Dick's doesn't have a great selection, but I did find a few things I needed and thought were worth grabbing at the huge discounts. Ended up spending $60 on: 7 Luck E Strike RC STX jerkbaits. I got one of each color that they had available. And some VMC Tungsten drop shot weights (1/8,3/16 and 1/4 oz), VMC Spinshot hooks (1/0 and 2/0), and VMC worm hooks (2/0 and 3/0) outlined in red. Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted February 2, 2015 Super User Posted February 2, 2015 Get this ... there was a flurry of people who raided the DSG in Latham, NY. There was a Shimano combo which was being sold for under $20 which retailed for over $120. My friend ended up with 3 of those combos. As a result that DSG went through with their staff and starting pulling things off the shelves. Someone made some mistakes ... LOL 3 Quote
rawjuice Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Wow, im in syracuse NY, I dont remember seeing any shimano "Combos" at the stores here, which kind of combo was this? Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted February 2, 2015 Super User Posted February 2, 2015 Went to my local Field and Stream last week and they had 3 different colors of the D-Bombs on clearance for $3.47, with an extra 30% off that price. They also had all Lucky Craft lures for 20% off. Add on my $10 off feedback survey coupon, I made out like a bandit. Went home, thought about it some, and then the next day during my lunch break I ran back to the store and bought all their remaining packages of the clearance D-Bombs. I also noticed on my return trip, that the LC baits were no longer 20% off. Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted February 2, 2015 Super User Posted February 2, 2015 Wow, im in syracuse NY, I dont remember seeing any shimano "Combos" at the stores here, which kind of combo was this? Not sure ... My friend just told me it was a 6'10" MH Fast baitcasting combo. The shimano reel sounded a basic 4 bearing model which had good reviews. He was extremely excited by it. LOL Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted February 2, 2015 Super User Posted February 2, 2015 Wow it must Change quick!! Seems to change often, also seems to vary from store to store for the most part. I don't know why. This is coming from a person who has 3 in my area (Latham, Albany and Saratoga Springs) and also happened to visit the Yonkers, NY and Charlotte, NC locations because of travel in the last two weeks. Mshutta Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I picked up an array of rods and tackle from them as well. For a guy on a budget like me, it's excellent to be able to grab a few more rods with different actions, rather than use what I have for techniques that don't work well with those rods (or have a backup if I break a similar rod). I picked up the tech spec elite casting: Spinnerbait, Magnum, Soft Plastic, Swimbait, and picked up a Swimbait and Magnum for my father. The next day at another DSG I picked up a Spinning rod; forgot what the "technique" listed was, but for $17.50 I couldn't help it. Also picked up KVD frogs, tungsten worm weights, Mustad trebles (1.88/pack!), Abu Garcia Orra SX ($30), and a few chatterbaits. I would have loved to find some of the Model A wakebaits and Zell pops I see that some of you found.. They say "every season starts a Dicks" but in MA I say "every off-season starts at dicks" because that's when I'm able to sock up on some good cheap gear for the season ahead 1 Quote
robster80 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 has anyone been in there this week? any specials still going on? Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted February 5, 2015 Super User Posted February 5, 2015 Stopped in Tuesday. 50% is done. Most red tags gone. They did have 20%off of pet's, but little else of interest Quote
Penguino Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 The sale ended on 31st of January. Now, there are no more 50% of clearance items. But if you go into Academy, right now they are having their sale. Quote
kikstand454 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Yeah. Dicks is done here also. Academy is clearing house now. .... Quote
robster80 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 good. ive got two academys in my area. they always have crazy good deals 1 Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted February 5, 2015 Super User Posted February 5, 2015 I was in Valley Forge, PA DSG yesterday and racked up on VMC tungsten flippin weights for $2.50 each. Took them all! Quote
ItsTig Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Just got back from DSG. The 50% off clearance is over now and what's left is pretty pathetic. However, Sebile Action First Hardbaits are 2/$5. Also there is a $5 mail-in rebate that prints off after purchase, so if you fill that out the lures are FREE! Grabbed a few different ones to try out, haven't had luck the few times I have used one I have currently. Hopefully one of the new ones will be the deal. Also today, got a nice heat gear Under Armour mossy oak long sleeve shirt for $17.48. The hunting clearance is still 50% off and these shirts are great for summer fishing, even though I'm not big on looking like a tree. :] During the fishing sale I bought a bunch of Havoc backslides for .98 cents a pack. Some Yum Dingers for $1.98, Livetarget baitball popper $6.23, bunch of VMC of hooks for $1.23. Scumfrog, scroungers, line, too much! My favorite scoop was a new Daiwa Lexa 2500 spinning reel for $58.48, can't wait to try it out. This thread was a great heads up, just wish I had seen it as soon is it posted! Quote
robster80 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 going to two diffrnt Dicks and Academys tmrw. if any good deals goin on ill post Quote

FloridaFishinFool Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I just got back from Dick's and I was not impressed. They did not have the line I wanted, nor the rods I wanted to look at. They are available only through their website online. So I asked about clearance rods, reels, and lures, and they had one small rack of lures, so I started grabbing a few and some Trilene braid marked down to $5.97. I had just put one roll in my basket and was going back for 2 more rolls and the manager came over and said the items on clearance were not priced right and he rolled the entire clearance display into the back warehouse and said the items I had just picked out would not price out at the register as they were marked on the clearance rack and he would not budge on letting me have it for that price since I already had it in hand. The Trilene braid was now $17.97. Needless to say it, but Dick's was a complete waste of time. At least Gander Mountain had a ton of clearance lures marked 50% off the price tag so I cleaned up on some things there. Bottom line is I can now see I have no reason to ever go back to Dick's. They have reduced the size of their fishing dept down to just about useless. Even their fishing line choices are super limited. While at Gander Mountain they are still useful in that they have tons of clearance lures marked down. But even they have reduced their fishing dept. size down to almost as bad as Dick's. I was surprised to find at Gander Mountain they still had Shimano curado CU-200G7 and Shimano Curado CU-300E7 reels on display being sold as new when I just checked with a Shimano dealer yesterday that parts are already being discontinued for those reels and Gander Mountain is still selling them on display as new? And they did not even have any new curado reels on display. What's up with that? It is clear that from now on my only real choice for a wide selection of fishing gear is Bass Pro. I just wish the closest store was not an hour away. Quote

FloridaFishinFool Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I was looking at a rack of red labels- the same one the manager said were all priced incorrectly. He rolled the display off the show floor and into the back warehouse right in front of me as I was grabbing for stuff! I wanted two more rolls of Trilene braid and he said it would not ring up for the red tag price of $5.97 per roll. I had to put more than half of the items I grabbed back. I was not going to pay $17.97 for that braid, not when I can get it cheaper on ebay. At this point after finding out Dick's had the items I wanted only online and none in the store, I have no reason to go back there. Gander Mountain is another story. They have nice clearance bins all over the place. Dick's did not. I had even called Dick's on like Friday or Saturday and was told the sale started on Sunday, and today is only Thursday. If the sale was over, it sure was a short one! Quote
raoka Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 i went back recently and all the clearance items were no longer 50 percent off the clearance price. they were being sold as is. the field and stream elite tech were no longer 17 and change they were actually 50 something still. so most items that i saw that were on clearance no longer have the additional discount. my guess is the sale that they told you about that started on Sunday were for different items...i saw a few, but was not impressed...e.g. certain clearance combos additional 25 percent off...
