I was in there today and saw they had their Field and Stream Tec Spec Elite rods on clearance from $79.99 down to $69.97 with 75% off for a total of $17.48 each. I grabbed 2; a 7 m/f and a 7-6 h/f. I know they are not great rods but, geeze, for $17 I'll keep em as spares.

I need to go check them out tomorrow, I like those rods, I actually almost picked one up about 6 months ago and  I liked the way it felt when they were clearing out the ABU Garcia Vendettas for 75% off. I actually think the elites are a much better rod than the $69-$79 price tag would suggest. I have fished a few of my friend's Tech spec rods and the flippin sticks are actually a nice action and they have a nice soft tip yet plenty of back bone for what you need.

I am hoping they have a 7'6" spinning rod left in heavy action for my soft bait fishing in grassy lakes, or a 6'-6-6' casting rod for my jerkbait fishing in Medium action which I have held in the store and they felt good. I have too many rods as it is, but for $20 they would upgrade a few set ups and I can sell the rods I am replacing on Ebay and make it at least a wash or even small profit...

Thanks for the info...Xcalibur One Knockers and xr50-xr100 lipless cranks, 100-300 squarebills, evers jerkbaits, and zell pops have been $2.99 and buy one get one 1/2 for a long time now. I also found a ton of nice stuff on clearance from Rage, Mister Twister, Damiki, UV tightlines and all kinds of good stuff.

Bomber Model A Wake baits were .99 which is a steal, that is a nice little crank for 0-3' and they had the Megastrike Shaky heads and Cavitron buzz baits in stock, I think I paid $6 for each pack of shaky heads, and $7.99 ea for 2 buzzbaits but they are must haves in the shaky head, buzzbait category. The Megastrike scent is a no-brainer, I have enough as it is so I refrained from buying more and instead invested in some power pro slick on sale.

I hit them today as well.  I picked some more tungsten weights ($3 a pack), VMC Jigs ($2 a pack), GYCB Swimbaits ($2 a pack), and more Trilene 100% FC ($10 a spool).  I was tempted to pick up a Shimano Crucial Swimbait rod.  I had it price checked> $32....  Still kicking myself for not picking it up but buying it would lead to more swimbaits and another reel that I might use on occasion.

Going today. We'll see what happens. I'm hopeful, but not too much.

Rods still regular price. They had nothing, except for a single Clown EE2 Jerkbait for $4 and Pumpkin Ed2 jig heads for $1.50. All but given up on DSG. They didn't even have any tungsten weights..

Honestly, if you are looking for a few deals, Gander Mt may be a good place to look. Rarely do they have clearance buy, they had Ardent's (The Apex Series) Marked down by $20 plus 10% off. They also had the Tatula marked down to $117. I went in store and felt it up. It's a litle big, in terms of size of the frame, its not the heaviest or lightest reel ever, but it feels extremely smooth and solid. It feels of quality construction, and the reeling is smooth, with little to no handle backplay. If I was in the market for a new reel, that's the route I would go.

For being 20 minutes from Kentucky Lake, the Paducah, KY store doesn't have a thing. I don't see hardly any F&S rods. Just a bunch of el cheapo Shakespeare combos and 10' Mr. Crappie rods. I think 90% of their store is clothes. Even the Gander Mountain across the road is a joke.

I went in last night to look for the rods and didn't see anything. I told them I was looking for the 7'6" F&S bass rods and they took me to telescopic crappie jig poles.

Their store is a joke and has been a joke. Can't stand them. The Gander was the same way and they did a reflow and redesign and supposedly got new management. It was better for a while but nowadays the fishing department is empty, disorganized, and overpriced.

I am forced to buy tackle from Cabela's and TW online. Ok by me I guess.

I'll try to stop tomorrow on the way home from work, but I am not expecting to see any deals like that.  My DSG store doesn't seem to have many of the sales (or sale items) others often have.

I have 3 dsg stores near me, one large store ( two floors) has a good amount of merchandise and frequent it often, while the other two are smaller and close to useless.

So it will depend on the size of store as to how much they stock.

I bet if you went back and talked to a manager, you could get them to give you the money back, or maybe even just a store gift card.

Got one for $37 at one of several stores in our area about a month ago. They only had 1 left or else I would have stocked up.

Pretty much my experience when I was there on Saturday. They didn't have much in the way of inventory and very little was on sale. Can't wait till the new Cabela's going up next door opens in a few months!

Some of you might find this useful. Not sure if it works, but it appears to be active.

I don't think I've spent $100 or more at DSG in my lifetime..

Yep, during the summer I found a Quantum Smoke SL100HPT on display for $99, went to the Dick's Sporting Goods on the other side of town and saw it for $199.  Well, Dick's messed up and we got if for $99 by having them call the first store.

I stopped by another local DSG tonight and they had a few Tec Spec Elites left on the shelf. They didn't have any clearance tags on them so I asked for a price check. All the models rang up $0.23....yup 23 cents. But the cashier called the dept mgr and he said that it was priced wrong and would not let me purchase it at the register price. He adjusted the price to $22.48, which is still a good price but not as good as 23 cents (I ended up buying the rods). Go check your DSG stores. Maybe one of you will get lucky and get one for less than a quarter.
