Boett43 Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Is there anywhere on the web where i can buy a balsa crankbait body and then just do the painting myself? Quote
ernel Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Hit the wrong button. You will still have to ballast and place your hardware, and seal the wood and cut your lip slot at the desired angle Quote
Super User Munkin Posted January 7, 2008 Super User Posted January 7, 2008 lurehardware.com I was trying to find that link after I lost my favorites. Allen Quote
BIG M Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 There is a problem with those pre-made bodies. It is very difficult to cut the lip slot exact and also very tough to drill the exact center for the balast weight. Quote
dampeoples Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Marty is very correct, I even tried to make a jig to line them all up, but they are not even close enough that that will work! If you are wanting to try painting, these same places sell plastic bodies as well. At $1 each, I paint 'em like I stole 'em, and most end up on the workbenches, given away, or used to practice on. They do work, though, caught a lot of fish on them as well Quote
