Flutter Spoon Shape

Does the shape of a spoon matter when you want to use it in a yo-yo retrieve, as a flutter spoon? I have a 5/8oz Bluefox Strobe Tear Drop spoon, and was wondering if its good as a flutter spoon. Its got the generic "tear drop" shape that many casting spoons have, to produce those wide, wobble on a steady retrieve.

I have no clue how a proper flutter spoon is suppose to behave on the drop. Should I invest in one of those long, thinner flutter spoons to get the proper action, or is my Bluefox fine?

the yoyo retrieve should be done with a jigging spoon.

 

A flutter spoon is better for casting, letting it fall and the pulling it back up, rinse and repeat

 

buy a bunch of different types and experiment

I recently learned that the spoon shape tends to be proportional to its sink rate.

 

For instance, a broader shaped spoon, like a K.O. wobbler, falls at a slower sink rate than a more slender spoon, like a Daredevle or a Krocodile, which will sink faster than the Wobbler.

Similar to a jig w/a bigger chunk will fall slower than one with a smaller/no chunk?

When I think jigging spoons this is the style that comes to mind http://braidproducts.com/shop/db-jig.html, they excel casting, trolling and deep water jigging, but for salt water.  When it comes to bass fishing I prefer a spoon with more of a wobble and slower drop.
