wvranger23 Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Hello all, I'm sorry for starting yet another post on seeking help for Guntersville, but searches through recent posts have not provided much info. Usually I am able to find whatever I am looking for by researching this website, but I kind of need some direct advice. I too will be seeing this lake for the first time in the last week of this coming March. I plan on checking with the different guide services and finding as many resources as possible in the weeks leading up to the trip, but this post was mostly targeted toward any locals or anglers that have fished the lake regularly for a while. I'm trying to figure out the logistics as far as where to stay on the lake as my buddy and I are trying to find decent camping/cabin rentals and how to optimize a short 3 day trip on the large body of water. This is not for a tourney or pre-fishing but rather just a leisure trip my old friend and I try to do once a year (last year was Lake Seminole). Please feel free to PM me if you have some great info as well. I really do appreciate any input from all you outstanding anglers and love nothing more than learning new things from you guys as I have on this website for several years. Thank you, Ben R. Quote
lazeebum Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Lake Guntersville state park. They have cabins, a hotel, or you can camp. Plenty of inexpensive motels close to the lake in different areas. I live close to it and have only been there once. I am within fifteen minutes of Pickwick or Wilson lakes, so I don't travel much to fish. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 22, 2015 Super User Posted January 22, 2015 Anoter vote for the State Park Lodge. They have cabins, too! Quote
slimshad Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Goose pond colony. They have cabins with four beds or a lodge that has double rooms. You wouldnt have to go far to fish eat or bait shop. I will be there the last week of Feb. This will be 10 years in a row. I stay at Goose Pond Colony and I have yet to have a bad expierience. North and south Saulty creeks are full of bass. You are not far from Mudd creek or even Mid lake. My advice is to trailer to the bigger creeks and stay there. Trailering is really easy at Gville. At the Classic last year 4 of the top 10 guys were in those creeks or really close. have fun and IM me if you have anything you want to ask. Quote
rebranger Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I Agree with the Goose Pond recommendation. Just depends on which end of the Lake you want to focus. There's more traffic / competition down on the South end around Guntersville, unless you go to Honeycomb. I like the north end better. Holler at me & I'll give you some lure tips & locations. If you want to hire a guide, I recommend Mike Carter, Angling Adventures. Ed Quote
